The government announced Tuesday the NRC would be revamped, and would concentrate on industrial research, new growth and business development. Its a money pit when "Scientist" patent information and technologies under the TAXPAYERS dime and then depart the NRC with their patent... This is great news actually but lots of nice "Spin" on it "Bob Kingston, the national president of the Agriculture Union — a component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada —said he expects there to be significant job cuts at Ottawa headquarters and at the Central Experimental Farm. That , if true, is more an indictment to the lack of balls the govt has. No company allows en employee to come up with a patented application and walk with it to make money. Probably not true anyhow. What we do here is not "sexy", we work diligently to help Canadian farmers and to understand the mechanisms of crop diseases. It is important, but it takes time.
