Hudson Jones Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Sounds like a legitimate expectation. UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. General Assembly overwhelmingly approved a resolution Monday calling on Israel to quickly open its nuclear program for inspection and backing a high-level conference to ban nuclear weapons from the Middle East which was just canceled The resolution, approved by a vote of 174-6 with 6 abstentions, calls on Israel to join the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty "without further delay" and open its nuclear facilities to inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Those voting "no" were Israel, the U.S., Canada, Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau. Resolutions adopted by the 193-member General Assembly are not legally binding but they do reflect world opinion and carry moral and political weight. link Quote When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. TimG Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 Please explain to this humble person what you mean. The NPT was not signed by India, Israel, North Korea and Pakistan. I assume that Hudson Jones will be able to point us to the resolutions calling on those countries to join the NPT followed evidence of their immediate compliance. Quote

So then if Iran pulls out of the NPT, it would be cool for everyone that Iran begins a nuclear weapons program like the above? bush_cheney2004 Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 Yes, but then we would bomb Iran anyway. They "deserve it", "have it coming", and were "asking for it". Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
TimG Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 So then if Iran pulls out of the NPT, it would be cool for everyone that Iran begins a nuclear weapons program like the above?Iran is legally entitled to withdraw from the NPT. If it does the world will react based on how they assess the risk of a nuclear armed Iran. But that has nothing to with the silly resolution demanding that Israel join the NPT when it has no reason to. Quote
Guest Peeves Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) Israel isn't parading their weapons/missiles with signs that threaten as Iran does. With the rhetoric of Iranians leaders, I prefer they be reigned in and denied nuke capability. I see no reason why Israel would in effect commit suicide by using a nuke, on the other hand I think Iran just might. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/986890/posts Edited December 6, 2012 by Peeves Quote
