PIK Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 LONDON, ONT. - Federal tax dollars paid the $1,700 deposit on the 2005 wedding reception for Mayor Joe Fontana's son, QMI Agency has learned. And the then-manager of the London facility recalls another cheque issued by the feds appeared several months later to cover the outstanding $18,900 Fontana still owed. A Public Works Canada cheque stub for $1,700, obtained by QMI Agency, bears an invoice number that matches that on the contract signed for the event at the Marconi Club. Meanwhile, as Mounties look into the matter, former club manager Joe DiPietro said he chased Fontana for six months before the sizeable second cheque materialized http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Politics/2012/10/18/20292576.html So he has to check records, if the goverment paid for it, you would think he would remember. If the goverment paid for it and he reimbursed them for it you would think he would remember. Now if he has a habit of paying for personal stuff like that ,then maybe he would have to check his records to see what happened. But if true ,the libs do not even need to be in power to steal from canadians. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

Guest Peeves Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 The Liberals were in power in 2005. 'In Power" might be giving them more than their do--er do-do. Quote
guyser Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 The Liberals were in power in 2005. True But the libs didnt approve the money, nor were they even aware of ti (at least so far as we know) He finaggled it disguising it as office expenses, not as a Ministerial expense. Quote

You would think a red flag would come up at public works ,when these cheques are requested. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

Yeah. I wasn't saying anything about that. I was actually replying to the comment that they don't even need to be in power to steal money. Quote

login Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 (edited) I don't get it, its not like they don't get paid. You'd think an MP could secure a loan or line of credit to pay a bill from a bank or an aquantaince. This is just stupid. Its like saying here, lets screw over the party... Although its not like records can't be forged, and relying on any GOV of Canada database is a no go because it was hacked. Edited October 23, 2012 by login Quote
PIK Posted November 22, 2012 Author Report Posted November 22, 2012 Charges have been laid, maybe more in future. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
Topaz Posted November 22, 2012 Report Posted November 22, 2012 The mayor is call a press conference for this p.m. so we'll see what he has to say and IF he is guilty then he should resign but does anyone know how this story got into the media? I feel sorry for his son and daughter-inlaw and I can't believe being a MP, he couldn't afford $1700.00 for a wedding, but who knows. Quote
PIK Posted November 22, 2012 Author Report Posted November 22, 2012 When he answered the question about it,saying I have to check my records, that was a admission to guilt right there.lol Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
