kraychik Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) One of the lighter moments during the campaign season. Obama's got some good jokes, so does Romney. https://www.youtube....h?v=NIHbe-aO6oI Edited October 19, 2012 by kraychik Quote
VitruvianMan Posted October 20, 2012 Report Posted October 20, 2012 (edited) This is rather pointless for the American people seeing as how both these clowns don't write the jokes themselves. We have known these men for years, but yet we don't know much about their true character. It's a sad state of affairs...American elections are simply PR and advertising campaigns more than anything else. James Madison would be proud. Edited October 20, 2012 by VitruvianMan Quote
bleeding heart Posted October 20, 2012 Report Posted October 20, 2012 (edited) ..American elections are simply PR and advertising campaigns more than anything else. James Madison would be proud. This sounds like empty rhetoric, but actually you're right. In '08, the Obama campain won a major marketing award..for their Presidential campaign. That sort of sums it up. And before any erswhile Republicans (or Canadan Republican wannabees) pipe up in agreement, let's not pretend this is a Democrat thing specifically: the McCain/Palin campaign actually cribbed a bit from Obama's: their whole "maverick/outsiders/change Washington" bit, while old and well-used, wasn't so far off from Obama's "Hope and Change" emptiness. Republicans have been masters at these things for decades. I'd say they do it better than Democrats only because they're not afraid to get a little dirty and exploit the racist tendencies of their base. While Dems sometimes exploit the narratives of class struggle (while turning around slapping the middle class in the face[Obama]), I'd say that's a less dishonorable tactic than exploiting racism. betsy Posted October 20, 2012 Report Posted October 20, 2012 I must say Obama is comfortable in showbiz. Perhaps after his presidency, speaking engagements will never be the same again. Quote
