Après le refus de Rome, ils avaient tué leur otage sans même attendre la fin de l'ultimatum. Cette fois, ils accordent un délai identique au gouvernement français pour annuler sa loi sur le voile à l'école. Here is the article in Libération. Even the sinking of the Reuben James did not cause them to end their isolationism. Further, Germany declared war on the US first, as part of it's pact with Japan. Russia entered 'the war against fascism' in 1941, only because they were attacked and nearly over-run.
