Pensions MP's

I like to hear more on a stand alone bill for the pensions and if you agree a public committee be created to deal with MP's and Senators wages and benefits?

Actually, it's my understanding that any major changes to pensions has to go through a special committee, the gov't can't change them on their own. In fact there was a committee formed, but it's not the financial committee I'm thinking of, it maybe the standing committee of Finance.

Yes, there is a committe but its maked up of MP's and the NDP's calling for an independant committee make up of outsiders, regluar Canadians that has no connection to MP's. I think the committee you are talking about is the secret Parliamentary committee, which is always kept very secret what they talk about, ALL of them. The last time they got a pay raise was when Harper came to the PMO and two weeks later, within 24 hours all MP's had their increases, which like someone said,it IS a conflict of interest.
