Signals.Cpl Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 You guys will argue any little point, huh? So whatever the reason, even if Denmark is less populated than Nunavut, they have chosen to limit immigration. That's why people don't flock there. Oh, and: Population density Canada = 3.3/km2, US = 33/km2, Denmark = 129/km2 You do know scandinavia includes other nations as well right? You made a comment and I pointed out that Sweden, Norway and Finland have low population density. Limit immigrants? Didn't their immigrant population go from 1% of total population to 6% in a decade? Sure sounds like someone is limiting them. Quote Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst
Canuckistani Posted May 26, 2012 Author Report Posted May 26, 2012 (edited) Some of the toughest immigration laws in Europe - it sure does sound like they limit immigration. It also sounds like they opened the doors a bit, didn't like the result and have now closed them again. I mean this is such a minor point. Boges thought he had an argument that Denmark can't be a good place to live because it's not having people "flock" there. It's pretty easily refuted by showing they can't flock there if Denmark won't let them in. Now you're arguing that Denmark did have people flocking there. By Boges' logic, that must make Denmark one wonderful place to live. Do you guys have any logical consistency in your arguments, or just pick at any point to be contrary? guyser Posted May 26, 2012 Report Posted May 26, 2012 (edited) Room? They are pretty large countries and underpopulated at that. Lots of room. But not as large as Canada. My guess is some migrants arent cozying up to 2 hours of sunlight , or none, in the winter months. Antartica has plenty of room too ! And the sunshine....oh my, 24 hours a day in December and January. Gee I wonder why they arent flocking? Edited May 26, 2012 by guyser Quote

So the question becomes - how is it determined that they are happier than people who live elsewhere? Seems like a contradiction, to me. Canuckistani Posted May 26, 2012 Author Report Posted May 26, 2012 So the question becomes - how is it determined that they are happier than people who live elsewhere? Seems like a contradiction, to me. Perhaps the surveys are done during the long, sunny days of summer. From the link provided in the OP: Denmark tops the OECD ranking as the country with the most satisfied citizens among the countries studied by the OECD. At first glance, the reason is not obvious. Denmark ranks no higher than fourth in any of the categories that appear to correlate strongly with overall satisfaction. Yet, in addition to the OECD, organizations such as the World Map of Happiness and the World Database of Happiness have consistently put Denmark at the top of their list of the world’s happiest countries. A high employment rate of 73% and a low percentage of 1.92% of employees working long hours contribute to high satisfaction levels. But overall, it is hard to pin down why those Danes are so darn happy. Maybe all the miserable ones, like Fletch have emigrated, leaving the satisfied ones behind. In fact isn't that how migration works? Quote

workingclasshero Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 Just some statistics that claim what they hardly are. Basing the score on a very few and debatable basics of materialism. Simply nah. You know the saying: there is a small lie a big lie and statistics... Quote
