guyser Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 Was there a point there somewhere? Are you implying or stating Steyn was not involved? Really? Is it that hard for you to follow? When was Steyn charged? How about...never? Asked , by me , to you, and you answer Macleans. Mom? Where my school books? $1.29 a pound . That, in a nutshell, is what you posted. Quote
Michael Hardner Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 My bad. I misread your unconventional quotes of yourself... you DID reply. Thanks, my responses: If I said there has been a threat to minors from priests or Scout leaders, is that an insult? It's true. Should I need to add but most priests or Scout Leaders are not pedophiles? Isn't that a given? Yes, it's an insult to say priests are a threat to minors. You can modify that sentence in many ways to make it a non-insult, but not analagous to what Steyn said. Why is it an insult to state what others cannot deny with lucid points or opposing facts? The numbers of Muslims immigrating to Europe is a fact. That that will impact on Europe is a fact. That in some manner and way it is a threat to European values is a threat in fact unless you can refute his reasoning. That isn't what you brought out above, though. You brought out 'evidence' of 14th century crimes. To say that European values will change is to state a fact, to say that they face a threat is to imbue the values of one people as being inferior to another. Can you see how a 'fact' was just dressed up with an opinion at the end, by use of a single word ? Yes facts, even those taken or used out of context can be used deviously, but if such is the case one cannot simply dispose of them by saying 'that's an insult." Prove it or stop bleating around the bush. Prove that the word 'threat' is an insult ? "Christians are a threat to our current system of good government." How does that sound ? Thanks. No, thank you. Guest Peeves Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 (edited) My bad. I misread your unconventional quotes of yourself... you DID reply. Thanks, my responses: Yes, it's an insult to say priests are a threat to minors. You can modify that sentence in many ways to make it a non-insult, but not analagous to what Steyn said. Simply adding 'some' would be a qualifier, though some would invariably still consider it insulting...then I wouldn't much care that they did. I think it's analogous to Steyn and why do you think he is insulting Muslims simply because he points out the effects of their immigrating to Europe. Is he singling out Muslims for a particular reason, does he have a dog in the fight? Or is he telling it as he sees it, proves it to many? If the truth hurts, take two and call me in the A.M. That isn't what you brought out above, though. You brought out 'evidence' of 14th century crimes. Which sort of sucked you in since you apparently thought I was ignoring the inquisition and flicking a bird at Islam dincha. To say that European values will change is to state a fact, to say that they face a threat is to imbue the values of one people as being inferior to another. Possibly, people, cultures, values are not equal in all peoples. And a threat is in numbers, not in inferiority or caste. The common denominator is not their status but of their numbers and their religion which both are threats to European customs, heritage, religion, and freedoms. Already in some countries crimes against Jews, and anti-Semitism, threats to news media cases have increased. Those aere real, have been expressed in the media of European countries and related with cause to Muslim immigration. Can you see how a 'fact' was just dressed up with an opinion at the end, by use of a single word ? Of course some will perceive the threat as they wish to see it. Doesn't make it slander or wrong or an insult per se. Prove that the word 'threat' is an insult ? "Christians are a threat to our current system of good government." How does that sound ? As that stands alone it's meaningless, to me both innocuous and non debatable since there is no detail. Steyn used detail and numbers and opined based on his research. If I were to add 'Fundamental Christians that oppose abortion, gay rights, gay marriage yad yada, ther would be grounds for how 'it sounds.' (then too we would have had to concede, "good government.") No, thank you. The subject tires me. I agree to disagree, no insult intended or taken..As Roberto once said..."no mas!" BTW Fundamental Islam may be a threat to kafir harbi, and dhimmi...AKA non believers in the last and true word of God. Edited May 9, 2012 by Peeves Quote

You don't seem to be too worried about my complaint. Would you say I attacked you ? They have the right to complain, and so do I. I don't mind being dismissed by you, but please don't whine that I (or others) are attacking those who make similar claims. Which sort of sucked you in since you apparently thought I was ignoring the inquisition and flicking a bird at Islam dincha. Yes, I thought that. What else should I have thought. I guess I still don't get the point of that if you're saying I was sucked in. I guess I was. Possibly, people, cultures, values are not equal in all peoples. Whatever you say about it, it gives people a good reason to complain. Of course some will perceive the threat as they wish to see it. Doesn't make it slander or wrong or an insult per se. Perception isn't at question here, it's someone expressing their insulting perception. As that stands alone it's meaningless, to me both innocuous and non debatable since there is no detail. I can provide 'facts' for it if you'd like, but the point is it's an insult. The subject tires me. I agree to disagree, no insult intended or taken..As Roberto once said..."no mas!" Fair enough... You feel it's fair to describe a demographic spike in Muslims as a threat to European cultures, and feel that complaints to the HRC on that article amounted to attacks. I feel I made a good attempt to explain why I thought the word 'attacked' was misused and why people had a valid complaint. Moving on... Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! Im guessing you havent the foggiest notion what the HRC complaint was about. Anyhow, good of you to admit your error and agree Steyn never was, nor has had a charge levied. Quote

Anyhow, good of you to admit your error and agree Steyn never was, nor has had a charge levied. Your braying has hurt my ears so I will simply say Steyn was the subject. And I watch/read/study most every HR issue and read the magazine. I venture to say that beyond a weak and ineffectual attempt to start a childish troll argument, you never made a single point. If you wish responses to your trolling, put a reasoable amount of reason in your bait. Quote
