Canuckistani
Can't vote because the choices are too limited. I like to think I'm a pragmatist with a bias for liberalism (ie live and let live) as long as that doesn't harm others. Eg - I would be all for prohibition, including alcohol and tobacco, if I thought prohibition worked - we could prevent a lot of misery if that was the case. But I don't think that works, so I'm for legalization and regulation of all drugs. Some would have much more restrictive regulations than others. GreenGreg
THere ARE no fiscal conservatives on this forum, and almost none in Canada. Just curious as to whether you considered the successive surplus governments of the Liberal Party, and those that voted for them, fiscally conservative? Machjo
Aren't fiscal conservative and fiscal liberal essentially synonymous terms meaning wanting less government spending? Machjo
I would describe myself as social conservative and social liberral. But since I see fiscal conervative and fiscal liberal to be synonymous terms, I also see two synonymous choices. I take it what you mean by fiscal liberal is fiscal progressive? Canuckistani
Aren't fiscal conservative and fiscal liberal essentially synonymous terms meaning wanting less government spending? You're thinking of neo-liberal. Liberal has come to mean left. It's a dirty word in the US, and now Republicons are attacking each other for being moderate, so moderate is also becoming a slur. Machjo
Sorry I take my last posts back. I was thinking economically liberal, not fiscally liberal. So yes, I'm fiscally conservative.
