I just want to point out, out of 10,000 foreign gay marriages done in Canada over the last 5 years or so only 1 couple wants a divorce? That is a great track record, maybe we should only have gay marriage because they seem like the only ones that stay together. That or the government drummed up this controversy.

Or maybe people who wanted a divorce abroad did research and discovered that in order to get divorced in Canada you need to be a resident for at least 12 months.

And unlike these two women (From FLA and the UK) they said WGAF it's not like it's legally binding in our country anyway.

I don,t mean to sound rash however I think that this country has more to think about than someones bedroom habits. I personally get sick and tired of gayness getting flaunted in my face. If your gay then thats your problem the Country as a whole needs to make sure there is jobs, fresh water to drink and victims of crime.

Maybe its because most gay couples like the legal non-status when it comes to divorce because they are free to divide their assets the way they see fit without government interference. Add to this is the fact that the overwhelming majority of gay marriages do not include children which means there is usually not one partner who feels they need to be compensated for 'staying home with the kids'.

I find it very, very unlikely that divorcing gay couples are any more or less acrimonious that straight divorcing couples. Some would be amicable, some would be all out wars. In any case, all Canadians need to be treated the same. There are no degrees of equality.

Do you have any stats on the % of gay couples who do not have children? Just anecdotal, but I know of a few couples that got married specifically because it was easier to adopt if they were married. Some also married/bred for the same reasons staright people do: commitment of marriage, homing instincts, age of partners.

The government should do something.

Maybe the PC wing of the party is really grabbing the power. When do we see the new Reform or Social Credit party rise? They can call it the Wild Rose if they want.

Oh-oh, it is The Really Secret Agenda....

Give it a rest.

Socred has been dead nationally and in the West for decades.

Stelmach and Redford put a stake through Wildrose in 2011, they are done like dinner.

Once again, you are utterly ignorant of events that have happened right in front of you in Alberta- and recently.

Why do you have a constant need for a bogeyman?

The government should do something.
