I thought I knew what I was cyber but now you have me all confused. I believe that there is no god or gods and I don't believe in the supernatural. But I also don't believe 'in' gods or the supernatural. Could you help me out a little in understanding what I believe? Or where would I go to find literature to tell me which of your two I am. This may sit o.k. with the good cop but I can't leave it at that.

Monty, you fool. You worship disposable heroes.

Ummm. No. It's your belief that Christian beliefs are fiction, yet you promote it as 'the truth,' same as those who push their religious beliefs as 'the truth;' so, as I said, you provide balance to the world.

Wrong. Everyone gets to have their truth - you get to have your belief that there is no God while those who do believe get to have their belief that there is. Of course there are some insisting that those who don't believe as they do "don't get to have [their] truth," and that's what makes everyone in that camp all the same. Whether one's belief is in God or no God, they are the same in their mindset; all believing they are right, and that everyone should believe as they do - pushing those beliefs in the same judgmental, insulting, threatening, 'I am superior, only an ignoramus would have different beliefs' way - which is what makes Christopher Hitchens, and a few here, nothing more than an Atheist Jerry Falwell. Ironic, it is.

That's it! Everyone gets to have their own truth! Therefore to people like you and other good cops everything is true at the same time as everything is false. Yeah, I get it now. Rather, I get 'you' now.

I just looked outside and the sky is falling. It's true because I believe it's true.

What a waste of time.

People conflate two different questions when discussing these topics.

1) Do you believe in God?

and

2) Does God exist?

Agnostics have done a great job of answering the second question when someone asks the first, so I blame them.

I agree, discussing one's beliefs is one thing, but an insulting superior attitude does not prove one's point, it only proves you have nothing to add to the conversation.

As long as you understand that facts and beliefs are two different things. You can believe in all of the fictitious stuff you want, but when it comes to public policy keep your beliefs to yourself and bring facts and evidence to the table.

If that's the case then nothing is true. There's no such thing as facts. Everything is opinion.

That's ridiculous. Obviously there is such a thing as facts. Facts are proven. But when something has not been proven, cannot be proven or disproved, then we are left with our beliefs, which to us are our truth. Obviously you aren't going to believe something that you don't believe is true, so your belief becomes your truth.

Exactly. And it's true of both believers and non-believers who fall into that category; they are all cut from the same cloth.

Wow. Another brilliant response. Thanks for reminding me why I choose to go through streaks of ignoring your posts. (And another begins .......... :) )

American woman, up is down and left is right. the earth is 10,000 years old and it's billions of years old. Everybody is right and nobody is wrong while at the same moment in time everybody is wrong and nobody is right. May peace and ditzyness go with you for the rest of your life.

You believe in something because it's true and it's true because you believe it. That's what you said and that's a tautology. You go on and continue ignoring me. I wouldn't want you to learn anything.

Why do you insist on calling another ditzy? You've repeatedly done this and it belittles your posts.

It's actually quite sexist, since there isn't a male equivalent to "ditzy". He shouldn't be promulgating female stereotypes, as much as I disagree with American Woman on a regular basis.
