GostHacked Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 Don't get me wrong. I totally disagree with you that using a computer is not "playing an actual instrument." Sampling is a friggin talent. DJing is not as easy as you think. Electronic music is every bit as much "real music" as anything else, imo. The truth is spoken here!! Quote
cybercoma Posted December 27, 2011 Author Report Posted December 27, 2011 (edited) The truth is spoken here!! I used to think it wasn't "real" music either, until I tried it. Boy did I learn quickly that I was very, very wrong. Jack, one track that I find impressive is "Harder Better Faster" by Daft Punk. They sample the lyrics on this track to sound like a guitar solo. You really need to know your way around music to be able to do this, as well as be techno-savvy enough to actually create the effect. This is really a talent. Here are the lyrics. If you know them, it's easier to tell how they've used them in the "solo" part. Work It Make It Do It Makes Us Harder Better Faster Stronger More Than Hour Our Never Ever After Work is Over [x2] Work It Harder Make It Better Do It Faster, Makes Us stronger More Than Ever Hour After Our Work Is Never Over If you don't want to watch the whole thing (I strongly recommed watching it all though), just skip to 2:20 the "solo" stuff starts there. I don't want to get too sidetracked into electronica, though, because I made the thread to see if anyone else has noticed this new movement back to classic rock. How can it be classic rock if it's new? Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.
cybercoma Posted December 28, 2011 Author Report Posted December 28, 2011 How can it be classic rock if it's new? "Classic" rock has a particular recognizable sound. I'm just using it as a description of that. If you listen to the Sheepdogs above, you'll see what I mean. Quote
