preferably a non religious person.. colour or race means nothing when religion is not involved

Why? You want to do away with all religion now? That’s ~70+% of Canadians……

your wet dream of canada being run by muslims will never happen

keep dreaming

Canada won't be run by Muslims any more than it has been run by any other minority/foreign group paranoid crybabies like you have been afraid of.

You never know……see Naheed Nenshi

You never know……see Naheed Nenshi

We've had black, Jewish, Asian, Irish, and Eastern European politicians too.

For the record Nenshi is awesome. I saw him do an interview on television one time. He seems like a great mayor.

Much MUCH better than Rob Ford anyway.

Maybe it would be better to have Muslims running the country, now that I think about it.

religion will be done away with when the older canadians die ..all I have to do is wait 20-30 years

So you figure on waiting until nearly 75-80% of Canadians are dead?

I don’t really care who a person prays (or doesn’t) to, or what race they are…….I live in greater Vancouver, at last count, there’s upwards of 50+ different languages spoken in this city…….To discriminate against certain groups, morals aside, is bad for business…….I agree though, Nenshi does have a uplifting light around him..... I hope we (CPC) can draft him when the time is right ;)

he is canadian born

that is fine with me

But he’s a practicing Muslim…..another contradiction?

I've heard this guy talk about issues....religion has nothing to do with the way he governs the city

hes rare

How do you know?

Indeed........I read and own a (Translated) copy of Mein Kampf.....aside From the actual opinions in which the author expressed, his way in conveying his ideas and his usage of various literary devices, not to mention his numerous contradictions of himself, reminds me of a great many of olp1fan's posts......In fairness though, when compared to English sentence structure, German sentences tend to seem to ramble on……. ;)

I find appalling how many canadians in this forum have views that would fit right in the Third Reich point it out and it's met with "Godwins Law"!...65 yrs ago my dad was shooting people that held similar beliefs, then he moved to canada to get far away from them only to find them here as well...

I couldn’t agree more……and they can be found in all political parties, ethnic backgrounds and religions……..My spidey senses tingle when any one group of people, wish to restrict or regulate another group, that is not in anyway affecting them…….Governments included.

he's a rare politician in that he's actually academically qualified to do the job...he has his detractors here but calgarians generally like him...

ahh you've got my complete respect now, even though we'll still disagree on many other issues...

my parents, brothers and sisters and extended family were terrorized by nazi's, my wife's family suffered at the hands of the japanese...nothing makes my blood boil faster than bigotry and intolerance...and bullies...

My wife is from South Africa, and Afrikaner, and saw first hand how bigotry and mistrust begets further bigotry and mistrust………ultimately, a society as a whole loses.

I don't fault any people who resist ethnic, religious, racial oppression, if the oppressors can't be reasoned with resistance is the only option left...and without mandela s africa at the helm would have descended into chaos, not that it's any sort of paradise now but it surely could have ended in a bloodbath had not mandela done his reconciliation....astonishing that after such a long time in prison he was so accommodating... Well South Africa is certainly far from a paradise…..Let’s not mince words, post-Apartheid, South Africa has seen a devastating “brain drain” of white professionals (My Wife and her family included) that has affected the nation in a negative way…. Obviously, the results of the ‘94 election swung the pendulum to the far opposite extreme of what was South Africa prior….This is further evidence to my opinion, that one small group controlling a much larger group and then the roles reversed suddenly, can have a negative impact on any society…….

so true if you think of the reformers controlling and merging with the PC!

cons have certainly had a negative impact on canada other than doing a few things right

like getting out of kyoto, scraping the long gun and banning the niqsb during citizenship ceremonies

Perhaps they should but if you were born here, you are a citizen whether you like it or not. You don't get a choice. Immigrants do.

Exactly. What if they refuse? The government's going to not allow them to be citizens and send them back to - where? Immigrants have their own country to return to if they don't like Canada's citizenship requirements. Cry me a river if someone doesn't like the citizenship requirements of a country they are choosing to become a citizen of.

I'm betting written oaths are perfectly acceptable in court.

So can witnesses be veiled?

Time will tell. That's actually currently a court case that's going to be heard in Canada.
