olp1fan Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) Interesting, this went almost unnoticed today, any thoughts? Its interesting how many blocks and unions are being reshaped or made lately first russia and its former soviet sattelite states, possibly the E.U, Canada/American, Latin America the world is dividing into factions Whats more interesting is China congratulating them...look for this in the future to do something http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-12-03/latin-america-forms-bloc-without-u-s-canada.html Latin American and Caribbean countries signed the “declaration of Caracas” today in Venezuela to formalize the creation of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, an economic and political bloc that excludes the U.S. and Canada. Leaders and officials from 33 countries approved the declaration that pledges to improve ties in the region. The Celac, as it is known, which Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says fulfills the dreams of Simon Bolivar and other liberators in the hemisphere, will seek to boost regional trade and integration and may create an international reserve fund to protect its members against the global economic crisis. “We’re laying the foundation stone for integration,” said Chavez, who postponed the same summit in Venezuela by five months after undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. “Only unity will make us free.” While leaders from countries critical of the U.S.’s foreign policy, including Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela, have said they expect the Celac to replace the Washington-based Organization of American States, other members from Mexico to Chile see it as a complementary organization. Caribbean, Latin America “This is in our interest, not against the OAS or Iberoamerican Summit, this is integration between Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Juan Manuel Santos, the president of Colombia. “I laud the meeting as a step in the right direction for Latin America.” While the U.S. refrained from commenting, Chinese President Hu Jintao sent Chavez a letter congratulating the region for the creation of the group. “I’d like to send my warmest congratulations,” the letter said, according to an e-mail from Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry. “China is always looking to approach its ties with Latin America and the Caribbean from a strategic perspective and is willing to deepen dialogue, exchanges and cooperation.” Chile will assume the presidency of the group during its first year and the next summit will be held in Santiago at the end of 2012. olp1fan Posted December 4, 2011 Author Report Posted December 4, 2011 This will definitely put an end to the U.S bullying this region...it also has the backing of Russia and China If republicans get into power they can't bully Mexico around and use their troops to stop the Mexican drug cartels without Mexicos backing or face the wrath of 32 other countries whether its a no fly zone or sanctions this is excellent but why would Canada be invited into a Latin American bloc? Canada wasn't snubbed cause we're not a Latin country Quote
Moonlight Graham Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 These blocs need to be formed in order for these individual countries to gain power over other powerful countries and blocs. Look how powerful the EU can be, given it combined has a higher GDP than the US. Strategic blocs are especially important for developing countries/regions without much political/economic power like Africa & L.A. Just wait, some nut job will think this is some NWO conspiracy toward one-world government when it is really just a clear maneuver of international power relations. And if the Americans truly wanted to close the border, they wouldn’t need Mexican help, but the instruction from the National Command Authority to call up a few regiments of National Guard…….. Quote
Guest American Woman Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 ...it also has the backing of Russia and China Of course it does, but most likely not because they are supporting Latin America but rather because they realize that anything that can be perceived as a weakening of the U.S. could very well result in an increase of their nations' strength worldwide. olp1fan Posted December 4, 2011 Author Report Posted December 4, 2011 What about Cubans and their Russian backed Government? Its fair to say U.S, China, Russia all support/ supported their own backed dictators and that obviously one country is no better than the other so its about time this bloc was formed so no more of these countries get bullied Quote
Moonlight Graham Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 so its about time this bloc was formed so no more of these countries get bullied They'll still get bullied, just maybe not quite as much.
