jbg Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 This means that you'd rather have DST as DST gives later hours of sun in the summer. In the winter nature says that the tilt of the earth means that we have less sun no matter what time regimen we follow. You people are really confused. I've noted an alarming trend. In June we had around 15 hours of daylight. Now maybe 10 1/2 hours. Also we're losing about 0.25 degrees Celsius each day. If it keeps going like this maybe we'll have eternal darkness, and freeze to death. Al Gore's right; we're screwing up the earth. Always remember that when you are in the right you can afford to keep your temper, and when you are in the wrong you cannot afford to lose it. - J.J. Reynolds. Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).
MiddleClassCentrist Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 I hate daylight savings. It's not healthy and entirely unnecessary. Quote Ideology does not make good policy. Good policy comes from an analysis of options, comparison of options and selection of one option that works best in the current situation. This option is often a compromise between ideologies.

Wouldn't that be a solution? Quote Ideology does not make good policy. Tilter Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Why don't we just shift to permanent DST? Wouldn't that be a solution? All to save a few whiners the trouble of resetting their clocks twice a year? Quote
MiddleClassCentrist Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 (edited) All to save a few whiners the trouble of resetting their clocks twice a year? No. Because there are many negative effects to changing the time of day but not adjusting the schedule. (hour changes but, not work start time etc) Humans are animals that did not evolve with clocks. Our natural rhythm needs time to adjust to waking up an hour later or an hour earlier. It is an unnecessary stress on our body with an almost insignificant benefit.
