Tilter Posted August 14, 2011 Report Posted August 14, 2011 No one's arguing that they do. Although one could argue that they could make society more productive through things like a national daycare program that would allow single mothers to work full-time hours and know that their child is cared for if they have very little support from family or friends. The national daycare program would be tax deductible which would cut into the tax paid by the working mothers which in turn would mean that the mothers pay less tax which would mean that the mothers would be earning about minimum wage (net) and the government would just about break even because they have to set up a new bureaucracy to govern the day cares and also pay the day care workers--- not a win win for governments or mothers but a lose lose for both of them. Then we have to consider all the additional court and jail costs for the kids who, without parents or any form of moral guidance in their formative years would end up like the kids & adults who are members of the thief gangs operating in the UK who disguise themselves as "rioters" Quote
cybercoma Posted August 14, 2011 Report Posted August 14, 2011 I'm sorry, but did you really just suggest that kids would be more likely to resort to violence and crime if more single-mothers were able to get off welfare and work full-time because there's a national daycare program? Do you also hold that mandatory schooling until the age of 16 creates young offenders and criminals? Quote
