Moonlight Graham
This is to distinguish from August1991's thread of very recent quotes in the news. This thread is for us to post any quotes we like that aren't as recent, ie: classic or historical quotes. I'll start: "If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.” - Archbishop Desmond Tutu Edited June 5, 2011 by Moonlight Graham
Moonlight Graham
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."- Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953 Edited June 6, 2011 by Moonlight Graham
