BQSupporter Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 With the Liberals with 135 and the NDP at 19 the Conservatives at 99 and the BQ at 54 and one Conservative minded Independent Chuck Cadmen. It looks like the House of Commons is going to be at a stale mate. Martin and the NDP can't govern with just 154 and they will lose one when the Liberals have to give up a vote to become Speaker making it 153 against the CPC and the BQ 154. So what will Martin do? He is not going to come to the BQ b/c he will get nothing from us unless he is willing to pay a very very very high price, which will make his party dead to english canada. So that leave the Conservative minded Cadmen and the CPC. It will be interesting. Quote
August1991 Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Interesting? It appears we will all count. And many Canadians will think that Paul Martin and the Liberals won with the most elected deputies so, what is the problem? Let's see. Quote

This will make sure Paul Martin giving BC what he has promised. We have been ignored long enough. We are not too sure if he wants to cooperate with BQ though, I personally dont think he does, but we'll see. However, hopefully this does keep NDP out of power, woohoo:). Quote
DAC Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 they will lose one when the Liberals have to give up a vote to become Speaker making it 153 against the CPC and the BQ 154. Expect the liberals to try to find someone among the independent, Conservative or Bloc for House Speaker. Then they'll say, "See how open we are to the opposition having a strong role in government". Digby Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Sounds Like Chuck got the best seat in the house Quote
kungfusion Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Sounds Like Chuck got the best seat in the house Considering Chuck was defeated in his own party, I say he is doing quite well:). However, with Paul saying there wont be cooperation with any parties, I think Chuck just might buy into that and be asked to be the Speaker. if not, then he just might not be as important as we think he could be. But I think the most significant relationship I'll be observing will be the one between the Liberals and Bloc Quebecois. If Paul Martin decides to work with Gilles, then I say the rest of the Canada is doomed. So we'll see how it goes. Quote
