maplesyrup Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Seat results so far: Party/2000/2004/Change Libs 19, 22, up 3 Cons: 9, 7, down 2 New Dem: 4, 3, down 1 Quote An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. maplesyrup Posted June 29, 2004 Author Report Posted June 29, 2004 First Quebec result - Liberal loss! Quote An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't. Anatole France
idealisttotheend Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Too bad for the NDP so far MS. I had them down for 14 seats oops. Looks like they split a lot of ridings with the Liberals though, respectable 22%. Hopefully we will get PR out of the 38 parliament so the NDP will do better in the 39th. Let's see some good NDP numbers out of Ontario though I am not hopeful. Still think the NDP should of pushed PR harder to seperate themselves from the Liberals. maplesyrup Posted June 29, 2004 Author Report Posted June 29, 2004 Pop vote is strong so far for the NDP. This bodes well for the New Democrats for the next election, which may come sooner than we think, at $1.75 per year, per vote. takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Cons arn't so hot right now. Let's see how it happens going forward. NDP on strong. Quote
takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Libs 109 Cons 58 Bloc 41 NDP 17 Wow. No breakthru appearing so far. Goodale elected. Cons, so far, getting SPANKED! Wow! Thank you Randy White!!! Quote
idealisttotheend Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 so we all look like fools Liberals take most of Ontario despite it all, look for the NDP and the Libs to get over 155 so next time we will have PR Quote All too often the prize goes, not to who best plays the game, but to those who make the rules....
takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 2 out of 3 Canadians REJECT the Conservatives. Harper = PWNED! Hopefully he'll get punted and next time we'll have a REAL election. It feels sooooo good. LIBERAL MINORITY GOVERNMENT!!! (Just Declared!) Which is great! It's enough to keep the Libs in Check, and keep our human rights from being trounced upon. Quote
takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 I'd like to thank the following people for this Liberal-NDP minority government. (It's really the best option.) Randy White Myron Thompson Ralph Klein Cheryll Galant (Couldn't have done it without cha!) Peter McKay (Thx for stabbing your party in the back!) Stockwell Day Rob Anders Jason Kenny and finally: Stephen Harper. Thank you!!! Quote
idealisttotheend Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 yep the COns are going down (though they were never really up) -- but we need Lib + NDP > 155 or they'll be another election soon. Quote All too often the prize goes, not to who best plays the game, but to those who make the rules....
maplesyrup Posted June 29, 2004 Author Report Posted June 29, 2004 Lib & NDP = 151 seats so far Might be ideal situation for NDP - if so, PR here we come! Lib minority being projected. takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 155!!!! 133+22 = 155 Let's see if it holds!!!!!! Quote
takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 158 2 in 3 Canadians want it. Let's see it happen. Quote
takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Eh, the polls were right. Canadians wanted Change. But they didn't want the kind of change that Harper et al were selling. It's clearly a left leaning coalition, that's held honest. Canadians are BRILLIANT, in spite of what Hearn says! Go Canada! Quote
caesar Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Hmmm where are all those happy Harperites. Being very quiet tonite. Guess I will add a few more months onto my estimate of how long this minority government will last. Quote
idealisttotheend Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 This is the perfect result, if it holds then I guess sometimes the good guys win. Look at the amount the NDP came up in the popular vote, the only party to do so. Sometimes the good guys win. I am feeling way more partisan than usual but I can't wait for Harper's consession speech. Quote All too often the prize goes, not to who best plays the game, but to those who make the rules....
DAC Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Hmmm where are all those happy Harperites. Being very quiet tonite. Grieving at the number of people who will vote for a gang that everybody knows is crooked and had ripped off the country unmercifully. Quote
takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Grieving at the number of people who will vote for a gang that everybody knows is crooked and had ripped off the country unmercifully. Canadians chose to put the crooks back in...with a police force to really hold them accountable. They didn't want what the Cons were selling. Are you saying that Canadians are WRONG? I'm proud of them. To retain human rights and to shun the war-mongerers. It's terrific! Quote
idealisttotheend Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Liberals got their share of humble pie though. Pratt Pringle and the one from Quebec that's three cabinet ministers down. Plus Chretien's riding went to the Bloc and it was looking dicey in Lasalle for Martin for awhile. Liberals are going to have to work hard to get some more seats in Quebec for next time but I don't see why next time should be anytime soon. Quote All too often the prize goes, not to who best plays the game, but to those who make the rules....
takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 I'm happy the anti-Copps Gettymanderers, Valerie and Keys, got spanked. So yes. I'm happy that Harper's henchmen have been pwned!!!!! It's great. So yes, the liberals got slapped, which I'm thrilled about. The conservative Pseudo-Liberals in Ontario got pwned. And what we got now is a true checked power system. I think it's great. So Canada wins. And now Klein gets spanked too. Woohoo! Quote
caesar Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Harper said Canadians were wrong regarding the Iraq invasion; that should have generated his downfall. I regret he got as many votes as he did. The Liberals are not perfect but they beat what Harper had to offer. It took a long time for the Liberals to pay off Mulroney's spending. We are still living with Mulroney"s gst. Then there is Mulroney's poor deal for Canada in the "Free Trade" agreement with the USA. With the NDP behind them; the Liberals better get busy and bring our Health Care back to an adequate level. Provinces are abusing our Health Care dollars HGealth Care is not free; we taxpayers are paying for it; we just are not seeing it. BC's Campbell would rather spend money on the Olympics; The Rav line has been rejected 2x in the last few weeks; they are going to go for another vote. Quote
takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 It spells a great government. Canadians want it to last for awhile. And next time...the election should be held WHILE the Cons are replacing their leader. Unless of course, he decides to cling on. Quote
takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 vote change: Libs -2.9 Cons -8.6 (LMAO) NDP +6.7 BQ +1.9 Quote
takeanumber Posted June 29, 2004 Report Posted June 29, 2004 Don Mills goes down to Jack Layton. Another pseudo-Liberal Bites the dust. Quote
