RNG Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 A staff member of my CPC canditate phoned me today and really urged me to vote in the advanced poll. Why? Are they afraid Harper will screw something up? Are they afraid that Layton's support will surge in the coming week? I'm a staunch right winger, and although I don't like a lot of the things Harper has done and is doing, I will still hold my nose and vote conservative. But why the push for me voting early? Bryan Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 But why the push for me voting early? The staff of the candidates are marking off who among their known supporters have voted. The more of them they can cross off now, the less work they have on election night. Quote
Molly Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 AND they are afraid that Harper will screw something up or the Layton surge will infect even their most dependable voters..... or maybe, maybe, maybe you'll get hit by a truck or kidnapped by aliens before you can get to the polling place. Mr.Canada Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 (edited) It's truly unfortunate that you don't agree with the way some people vote. Whatever motivates them is A-OK as long as they get out and vote, including holding one's nose as they are marking an X. I tell my family and friends the same thing. I basically don't care who someone votes for just as long as they try to make some sort of an informed decision and actually vote. Plus in Canada no matter who gets into power we're going to get good government. Even with the NDP. It isn't like some parts of Africa for example where some party will win the election but the former governing party won't step down. Even if he was voting for the party I support, I would still find it ridiculous. Why would you vote for something you're against? Quote
Bryan Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Why would you vote for something you're against? Perhaps the others choices are even less appealing to him? Quote
TimG Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Why would you vote for something you're against?Because there are only 4-6 choices on the ballot. The only way to cast a ballot is to accept that you are voting for some things that you don't like. If you like everything about a party then you are unusual. Quote

I always vote for a conservative type candidate in every level of election. Unless the conservative type candidate was some sort of crook or rapist or something I guess. Then I obviously couldn't support that. Quote "You are scum for insinuating that isn't the case you snake." -William Ashley Canadian Immigration Reform Blog

Are you saying that Harper as the leader of the CRAP, has nothing wrong during his time in the PMO?? The list is long but just like the audience standing up and clapping to help Harper out not the answering the media's question about the candidate out in BC, who had connection to the guy connected to Air India bombing. I'm sure Harper's staff groomed the audience to do that. What, has he overwhelmed you with his singing? Quote

CBC reporter Milewski has a habit of lumping 4-5 questions on different issues together and turning his questions into mini-sermons. On this particular occasion, he did not let Harper repeat his answer in French and interrupted him by shouting out another question. That's what got the crowd going. Or are you one of those people who thinks that all intelligent people would only hold YOUR views? You always have the option of voicing your displeasure with all the parties by submitting a blank ballot on election day. It makes absolutely no sense, in fact it is a disservice to yourself and your country to submit a vote for a party you do not agree with. Quote
