Oppositions and media slam Harper for bringing the allegations against Guergis to the RCMP, saying there is no clear evidence.

I ask, isn't that the purpose of letting the RCMP investigate on it? Isn't that what investigations is all about....to find out if there is any wrongdoing or crimes committed?

Ignatieff and Layton criticize harper for doing an "injustice" to Guergis. What are they on about? Either both are showing early signs of senility....or they're both downright flip-floppers. Either one a reasonable ground for being deemed as incompetent to lead, what more to be PM of a nation.

Ignatieff and Layton were demanding for Guergis' head when she threw a tantrum at the airport. Remember that???

AND that was BEFORE the Jaffar scandals came out, and BEFORE we found out Jaffar was using her office blackberry (?) for his own business dealings and personal use.

Don't tell me Ignatieff and Layton wasted time looking so angry and indignant, demanding Guergis to resign and pressuring Harper to fire her, only to contradict their own selves and neatly try to portray themselves as Guergis' knights in shining armor!

Imagine that...Parliament time wasted just for mere posturing by these two! If they say Harper was in contempt of Parliament....then I say these two surely have such contempt for the public whom they seem to see as so gullible and utterly stupid!

RCMP investigations aside, we cannot deny that Guergis has her own baggage. The tantrums alone caused quite an embarassment. What more with everything that came about in connection with Jaffar. Whether Guergis is innocent or not is not the point.

It's the optics....and the nagging question that will surely enter everyone's mind wondering whether she's abusing her office, or whether her husband is exploiting her position.

If Ignatieff and Layton doesn't understand that, then all the more they don't deserve to lead.

No kidding....let's go back to the rabid attacks from the opposition - and the media - with regards to Ms. Guergis. Hypocrits indeed:

Opposition parties are accusing Prime Minister Stephen Harper of ignoring allegations that former cabinet minister Helena Guergis's husband used her parliamentary offices for lobbying purposes.

.........................

Late last week, the prime minister accepted Guergis's resignation from cabinet and kicked her out of the Conservative caucus after he learned of "serious" allegations about her conduct. Harper referred the matter to the RCMP and the ethics commissioner, but would not disclose further details about the charges.

.........................

"Can the government explain how this pair was allowed to get away with this for so long?" Ignatieff said.

...........................

Earlier Tuesday, one of Guergis's former staffers told CBC News that Jaffer sometimes used Guergis's Parliament Hill offices for work, saying a specific room was known as "Rahim's office."

The former employee said it was unclear what Jaffer did there but that he often spoke about his business, Green Power Generation.

A spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office said it was the first they had heard of Jaffer using Guergis's office, and that if true, it would be unacceptable. When contacted by CBC News, Guergis's office said she is not making any comment at the moment, but will issue a statement later this week.

The Globe and Mail reported Tuesday that a former chauffeur for Guergis drove Jaffer regularly in Ottawa for a period of time after he lost an Edmonton seat in the 2008 election.

For a somewhat complete chronology, here's a link to the always helpful CBC but I'll highlight one entry:

March 31, 2010

Both Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff and NDP Leader Jack Layton call on Guergis to resign or for Stephen Harper to fire her.

The opposition parties opposing? no way!

If Harper had a spine he would have stood by Guergis, instead he tossed her under the bus for his own gain.

Betsy, my sentiments exactly. This is why the story is irrelevant. If it was reported on honestly by the CBC, the hypocrisy of the Liberal Party and the NDP would be revealed to those Canadians that don't have either the time, the will, or the ability to follow these events. Strangely, the CBC seems to be trying to imply that this Guergis-story is indicative of something bad on behalf of the CPC or Harper and his cabinet. Anyways, it's the usual fare - garbage from the CBC and no real honest journalism. I wish Harper had some guts and made the CBC an election issue.

My blog - bobinisrael.blogspot.com - I am writing on it, again!

Well Harper stood by Guergis for the longest time! Amidst relentless clamor from Ignatieff and Layton to fire Guergis after her airport tantrum!

See Keepitsimple's links,(thank you Keepitsimple). You seem to be ignoring that fact!

Ignatieff/Layton flip-flopped!

This flipflopping also questions their view on ethics....no firm ground to stand on. INCONSISTENT!

So they speak of trust...well this is a matter of who can you trust! Surely not these two whose words can easily "pivot" (gesturing ala-Ignatieff with my two hands) - gotta love this word pivot - where it suit them!

Let me ask you this, Battletoads: How did Harper "toss her under the bus?" Explain please.

I notice how CBC and CTV are both gungho in their bias. They're out to help stop the Harper majority.

MCNeil from CBC interviewed Guergis and not once did she point out the facts about her own baggage. Guergis commenting why they wouldn't accept her back in the caucus, says "I don't know why..."

To any efficient and effective anchorperson, the obvious question from Mcneil should've been..."Do you think this has anything to do with your airport tantrum? With your husband's seeming exploitation of your position?"

Nada! Mcneil sacrificed her credibility by obviously not doing her homework, and that is to say the least. if she's not biased, then it's half-baked journalism....sloppy......lazy....superficial....
