WWWTT Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Are we not in an election campaign right now? Can Harper still dictate what Canadas foriegn policy is? I am not sure of what the politicians role durring an election campaign so maybe some members can enlighten us. However in my opinion I believe that Harper should not be making any such claims,it gives a false impresion that he is still the prime minister and I believe that when an election is called he losses this distinction. After all the votes are counted a new PM will be selected. WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Total fail of the moderation on this site! WWWTT Of course he can make this claim: if the CPC forms a government (whether majority or minority) then he will be making these types of decisions. As such, he should be telling us what his plans are for Libya. It did not state that if he was elected prime minister he would not send troops to Libya. The purpose of this thread is to look for some actual facts here. WWWTT ya there are provisions for that, the old regime still has emergency powers...if ghadaffi began a rwanda style slaughter that would be grounds for mackay to send in troops to help end it...it wouldn't be very practical if we had an emergency situation and we had to wait until after the election to deal with it.... fellowtraveller Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Perhaps Mike, Jack, Gilles and Liz will issue a statement on what plans The Cooperative will have for Libya. I expect they'll issue a strongly worded memo at a minimum. Quote The government should do something.
