so my bro-in-law who spent 15 or so years stationed outside of the country while in the military isn't a "real" canadian?...

did he ever claim to be a citizen of any of those countries? Remember, Iggy called himself "an American who loves the US".

I have captured the rare duct taped platypus.

like me my bro-in-law still has dual citizenship, a citizen of two countries but makes his home in one...home is where your heart/family is, I live in alberta but I have no love for alberta it's just a place where I live with my family...I still see myself as a saskatchewan boy but always a canadian before that regardless where I live...I know many canadians who have homes in other countries but I don't doubt their loyalty to canada because of where they choose to have a home...

Gratuitous Crossposting

Not gratuitous at all, in fact very pertinent to both threads...

Other then that, any discussions of the CPC misadventures are guarranteed to bring out the CPC apologists and the "But the Liberals" whine/cheese and violin defence.

There are only two legitimate options for government; Tories and Liberals. When people hate the Tories and post all these pseudo scandals and complaints, I think it entirely relevant to respond, if the situation calls for it, that the Liberals are equally as bad on that given subject, if not worse. It is to say that this particular subject is not going to change votes since there is no alternative better.

Oh, the Tories don't provide open government!? Oh how horrible! Well let's vote in the Liberals then and.... uhm, but then we remember just how 'open' Liberals are in government too, so why bother?

You see what I'm getting at?

At least if it had been a long time, and the very people complaining about the Tories hadn't done the exact same thing when THEY were in cabinet, you might have at least some traction. But seeing the pompous sense of indignation on former Liberal cabinet ministers only makes me want to snicker in a cynical fashion at their poor acting skills.

It is an inverted moral calculus that tries to persuade the world to demonize one state that tries its civilized best to abide in a difficult time and place, and rides merrily by the examples and practices of dozens of states and leaderships that drop into brutality every day without a twinge of regret or a whisper of condemnation. - Rex Murphy

OK, fair comment...

Would you mind pointing out which "former Liberal cabinet ministers" you are specifically referring to?

Thanks...

I'd call that simply a smart Christian thing to do... Especially since he was promoting his book at the TIME...

You know, "when in Rome, do as the Romans do", simply a smart way to do things in another country...

- Etymology

First attested in medieval Latin si fueris Rōmae, Rōmānō vīvitō mōre; si fueris alibī, vīvitō sicut ibi (“if you were in Rome, live in the Roman way; if you are elsewhere, live as they do there”); which is attributed to St Ambrose.

Proverb

when in Rome, do as the Romans do

1.behave as those around do

Derived terms

when in Rome (ellipsis) -

All in all a well thought out and TIME tested way of doing things...

Good for Ignatieff for being so thoughtful of the people around him at the TIME... B)

which "former Liberal cabinet ministers"

All those that had no clue what was going on right under their noses during the Sponsorship.

Were they lying or just incompetent?

Then comes unprecedented lying to Parliament about firearm registration.

Not very hard to decide.

Iggy is smart Christian?

We have separation of "church & state".

So he's not very smart.

I ask that u not engage in that activity again.

Exactly what "activity" would that be?

Posting a publicly available link to a Globe and Mail article, or acknowledging the poster that originally found a very relevant link to a Globe and Mail article very germain to my thread?

Incidentally, what happened to that thread, since it's no longer there and I received no notification of anything pertaining to it?

What kind of "public forum" is MLW anyway, perhaps the "welcome mat" needs to be replaced...

I can't seem to find anything in the R&G against it, feel free to enlighten me...
