August1991 Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) Probably a product of her relative inexperience in hardball federal politics.According to John Crosbie, she had her boyfriend in the back of the campaign bus in 1993.Inexperience? She was a flake - like Ignatieff. I watched that Real Time video and almost 20 years later, she is still a flake. Once a flake, always a flake. Went to high school with Kim although we didn't have the same circle of friends. Extremely bright and personable. One of the best students in the school who took a major part in many school activities. Everyone seemed to like her a lot and you felt she was going to do something special. Prince of Wales was one of the older Vancouver schools and the second of that name. She was chosen the first female valedictorian in its history. Doesn't sound like much now but it was a big deal back then.Sounds like a typical flake. Edited March 13, 2011 by August1991 Quote
no1ninja Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) I sometimes wonder now that some of you are making a big deal out of her love life, if we are being fair in this regard. She is allowed to be a woman, I would imagine we do not have problems with showing femininity in office, its the 21st century. We don't need to “Reno”fy our female politicians. Most women I know tend to approach love emotionally. Guys are very reserved and do not let their emotions show in this regard, at least not if you want to avoid being called a "flake". However, tons of politicians have succumbed to the male perspective of dealing with sex, whether it is Clinton, Kennedy, Busconi and to a small degree Trudeau. I mean these guys had sex lives that some would argue got in the way of running the country. The other thing about her insulting Chrétien’s face. LOL. I bet you Chretien never laughed so hard. That SOB was one tough mofo, his feelings were not hurt. Chances are he called Campbell all sorts of nasty things in private. I mean it wasn't exactly cordial between them, so her loosing her grip on emotions probably made Chrétien kick back with a cigar and a glass of scotch. The only thing hurt by that remark was Campbell’s image. After watching her on Real Time, I like her as person. I like to see some personality and humanity in my politicians. She definitely had that, but it can be a vice in moments of preasure/heat. (oh and Wilber, I apreaciate your story too) Edited March 13, 2011 by no1ninja Quote

You donèt have to wander off into soppy notions of women being excdeptionally emotuional in their love-lives to call it outrageously unfair. Maxime Bernier strikes me as being a current sample of extremely doubtful judgement on the subject. Mr. MacKay is the one who has most recently let over-emotionality show. Æt the time that Ms. Campbell may have discreetly kept a boyfriend in tow... well, letès just say that she was a very far shot from being the only one. Shakeyhands Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) I understand that you, as a Liberal, are embarrassed by the fraud perpetrated by your beloved Liberals but pretending it didn't happen won't make it go away. The Liberals are done for a generation at least. Please admit that a massive fraud totaling hundreds of millions of dollars took place...please be honest. It's a matter of public record now, you might as well come clean. a cite should be pretty easy to provide then for your $500 million. ToadBrother Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Her sex life is of no interest - her stupid political ideas are. I never encountered many of her ideas, stupid or otherwise. The impression I got during that election was of a sacrificial lamb. Just like Joe Who. Clark had plenty of ideas, some good, some bad, but he was in an impossible situation. Quote

So I kind of wanted to touch on the subject. I'm far more struck by the evaluation of women solely on a sexual-objective scale. The new twist on the perennial circumstance of powerful men surrounding themselves with bimbos is to now equate qualification as a bimbo to general competence. Well, sometimes beautiful women are also brilliant, and sometimes they are not. Even if those who are sexually attractive to men were always brilliant (they aren't) to ignore brilliance in favor of a cute tush is a terrible waste. I just don't figure that double standards are necessary, even if they are generously intended. Quote "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" — L.
