Your periodic, oversensitive little temper tantrums about America! aside, I don't hate it it all. And I like and respect the institutionalized protection of rights in the United States.

No...there is ample evidence here of your disdain for America at every turn...and that's OK.

You know all this, of course, since it's come up several times. You're geting desperate now. I think your military service has made you frail and stupid.

No...it just made me even more American. But we know you think Americans are stupid...so all is well.

Sorry, little guy, you're dead wrong. And I can prove it: go back, and read my comments to CANADIEN; it's in post #3, or thereabouts, well before you chimed with your admiration for bigotry.

Does this mean you are a "bigger guy"....somehow it always comes down to such things with you. Nobody can help you with that.

Go ahead, check it out. Consider it a challenge.

Consider what a challenge? You are never a challenge.

Let's admit it. Some people's attempt to prevent US from expressing an opinion THEY don't like is actually pretty funny.

Expressing or not expressing an opinion is a choice...I believe this was so stated by our sensitive anti-American OP author. What is funny is any expectation that such opinions would not be met with an opposing view on a forum designed expressly for that purpose.

If by "ample" you mean "zero," then so be it.

No...it just made me even more American.

No. It didn't.

But we know you think Americans are stupid....

Just you.

Does this mean you are a "bigger guy"....somehow it always comes down to such things with you. Nobody can help you with that.

No, it means I incontestably proved your claim wrong.

Consider what a challenge? You are never a challenge.

So, you admit I was correct, and that you were mistaken. That you didn't change my mind...because I had already stated my support for their legal right, before you showed up here.

Yours is not a gracious concession; but it's a concession nonetheless.

Nope....your ass covering contention was not sincere, and actually mocked the very idea. How dare these American "morons" exercise their free speech and assembly rights.

Yours is not a gracious concession; but it's a concession nonetheless.

I don't have to be gracious...I am an American...it is one of the reasons you hate us.

Nope. It mocked the assholes with whom you agree. The idea itself is sound.

Evidently you don't think much of the principle itself, or you'd intuitively understand this.

More to the point, now you've looked, and noted that I had already expressed the idea of which you hilariously tried to take credit.

I don't have to be gracious...I am an American...it is one of the reasons you hate them.

I don't hate anybody. Not a soul, living or dead.

Nope...I actually edited my post to repeat your hatred of American "morons" exercising their rights.

I don't hate anybody. Not a soul, living or dead.

The Pantywaists of America Association (PAA), for starters, thinks otherwise. Especially those hated nationalist pantywaists from America....damn American pantywaists...you hate those bastards.

What is funny is YOUR hyprocrisy on freedom of speech.

You have the legal right to hold opinions that even more remeniscent of a pile of manure than they are now (and I am being polite).

What you don't have is the power to stop me or anybody else from expressing my dislike for your garbage and that of your fellow bigots. This is MY freedom of speech, which you keep attacking.

You are of course the right to remain an hypocrite.

Having trouble admitting the demonstrated truth, are you?

Why so defensive? I am just a bigoted American moron according to you. That is your "truth".

But you don't allow for others to be the same. Interesting.

I've read that the videos were edited and spliced to make it look as if the protesters were hurling those words at the men, women, and children who attended the event when they weren't. I think we have to be careful when looking at 'evidence' on the internet. If this was doctored to make it into something it wasn't, it's certainly not the first time. But it's effective, because evidently it's getting a lot of attention worldwide.

That you happen to be American is unrelated to your demonstrated faults.

I know....pointing out my American faults is important to you. Of course, you resent the same favor.

You have already decided that I agree with the bigoted comments, and what I "hate". Others can do the same for you, don'tcha know. Perhaps you don't like that?

Well, the source you link says nothing about how "the videos were edited and spliced to make it look as if the protesters were hurling those words at the men, women, and children who attended the event when they weren't." Rather, the objection (a very reasonable objection, by the way) was that the council person (and perhaps the other political speakers, by extension) were edited in in a fashion which suggests something grossly unfair about their views.

However, Pauly herself concedes that the group yelling ugly remarks--whom she terms a splinter or fringe group that showed up late--were real enough. It's not contested here, at all.

Do you have a source which supplies evidence that the protesters--fringe group or otherwise--weren't hurling insults at the men, women and children?

That's even better....Michael Moore raised this technique to a respected art form. All is fair in love, war, and politics.

Nope. Again: your faults have nothing to do with being American. You own them asd an individual.

You have already decided that I agree with the bigoted comments, and what I "hate". Others can do the same for you, don'tcha know. Perhaps you don't like that?

But I'm not a bigot; and you are. It's not complicated! Try to follow along.

Evidently some were hurling insults at the men, women, and children: a small number. But according to my source "spliced into it were sections of speeches from earlier that afternoon, when Pauly and congressmen Ed Royce and Gary Miller spoke at a rally." So the videos were making it into something it was not.

Oh yes; I understand this. And in fact, I took it for granted, on first viewing, that there was something a bit off about the contiguous remarks of the council member; and she has established that my suspicion seems to have been correct.

I'm asking about the "not hurling insults at men, women and children" bit.

(And of course it was relatively small number; such things almost always are, thankfully.)

It was intended to be....not bad for a bigoted American "moron", eh?

Labeling others while rejecting the same treatment leads to a lot of cement.

It was not exactly high art, if that's what you mean.

I don't know if our resident mocker is uanware of the "glass houses" metaphor. But you should take heed.

(And no--to pre-empt your inevitable misunderstanding--"should" is not an order, but a suggestion.)

I meant the remarks of the people in question, so I should have stated it as such; they weren't hurled at the men, women, and children. That there were a small number of people doing it is, unfortunately, the norm; there's a small number of people who act out on every side of every issue. That in itself wouldn't have been 'big news.' So in effect, it's the doctoring and the splicing that has everyone worked up. It's the fact that it's been presented as something it's not that has has turned it into a media event. If a small group of Muslims had hurled similar words, I doubt you'd be making it into what you are making this event into, and if non-Muslims had doctored the event to make it into something it was not, I'm guessing that's what you'd be on about, not the behavior of the few. And rightfully so. It's wrong no matter who/which side is doing it but it is, as I said, an effective means of getting attention and getting people riled up.

I agree the behaviour of protesters towards muslims in general was over the top. But they (the muslims) did come to hear the words of the two controversial speakers, which indicates some level of support for these individuals. And ths in a way harkens back to a certain American visitor who came to Ottawa University about a year ago. The medium is the message.

A fan of Marshall MacLuhan??
