GostHacked Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 Apparently this means you will burn in agony. I wonder if Jesus makes your family watch? I rely on the tangible real world and I depend and rely on real people. Praying got me nowhere in the past, so I gave up praying, and started doing things for myself. Quote
WIP Posted April 12, 2011 Report Posted April 12, 2011 I'm pretty sure Jesus is the nature of evil with lines like this: Luke 14:25-26 (NIV): [25] Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: [26] “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. If we're ever able to mine down and find the historical Jesus, I'm sure he will turn out to be a cult leader who convinced a small band of followers that he was the Messiah....that verse sounds a lot like the ramblings of a paranoid, controlling cult leader when it comes from a Jim Jones or a David Koresh...but that's exactly what they tell their followers to do. The Christianity we have today is the creation of Paul, who turned the Old Testament version of what the Messiah was supposed to do, into a story of sacrifice for the sins of the world. Quote Anybody who believers exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist. -- Kenneth Boulding, 1973
betsy Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 (edited) If we're ever able to mine down and find the historical Jesus, I'm sure he will turn out to be a cult leader who convinced a small band of followers that he was the Messiah....that verse sounds a lot like the ramblings of a paranoid, controlling cult leader when it comes from a Jim Jones or a David Koresh...but that's exactly what they tell their followers to do. So you're saying Christ was imitating Jim Jones or Koresh? Not the other way around? Your logic goes that just because Jim Jones and Koresh were literally exploiting the passage from the Bible to suit their agenda of isolating their members from families....your conclusion is that therefore....Christ was a cult leader! Interesting, I guess you could look at any religion as a cult. Quote

Isn't your logic similar to this: The cat meows. The parrot heard the cat and mimics its meows. Therefore the cat is a parrot! Quote
