Saipan Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Stephen Harper could elect each senator He can appoint, not elect Quote
g_bambino Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 Yes, Canadians elected Harper because they like the idea of ELECTED SENATE. Among other things, like freedom. I.e. keeping government out of our face. No, Canadians did not elect Harper; the majority of voters in the riding of Calgary Southwest elected him. Canadians are not unanimous in their support for an elected Senate. And what does freedom and government have to do with honours; especially when you're arguing in favour of pulling Canadian honours even further into the political centre of government? Quote
Esq Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 He can appoint, not elect He can have an election to decide the nomination (Harper doesn't appoint, he nominates, but unless there is a disqualification for some reason the GG is suppose to approve it) The point is, there is no law barring an election for stephen Harpers nomination candidate. Saipan Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 And how's the elected Senate thing coming? Waiting for majority to implement. And how's "killing of NAFTA and GST" coming? Quote

Yes all this time harper could be holding elections for his nominations.. BUT HE ISN'T .. .what this means is that it is all a political game to pry feeble minds, not to bring about electoral change. He could already do this. But he isn't.. so it isn't his motivation.. it is what lies inbetween that is his motivation, clear.y Quote
Saipan Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 No, Canadians did not elect Harper; the majority of voters in the riding of Calgary Southwest elected him. Who elected Martin and Chretien? Quote
g_bambino Posted January 16, 2011 Report Posted January 16, 2011 (edited) Who elected Martin and Chretien? The majority of LaSalle—Émard elected Martin and, at various times, the majorities of Saint-Maurice-Laflèche, Beauséjour, and Saint-Maurice elected Chrétien.
