wyly Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 (edited) I doubt anyone saw this coming, winters aren't as dark in the arctic as they used to be...the Inuit noticed some ten years back that the skies seemed brighter mid winter even without the sun than in past decades...the explanation right now is that warmer air moving north is acting as a conduit for light... I always wondered how large dinosaurs survived in the arctic regions during the months of the winter darkness maybe this phenomenon would help explain that... Guest TrueMetis Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 I doubt anyone saw this coming, winters aren't as dark in the arctic as they used to be...the Inuit noticed some ten years back that the skies seemed brighter mid winter even without the sun than in past decades...the explanation right now is that warmer air moving north is acting as a conduit for light... You got a link? I always wondered how large dinosaurs survived in the arctic regions during the months of the winter darkness maybe this phenomenon would help explain that... I always assumed they migrated or hibernated. Quote
wyly Posted January 7, 2011 Author Report Posted January 7, 2011 You got a link?no link it read in today's paper, I'm sure if you do a quick search you'll it somewhere...I always assumed they migrated or hibernated. I had considered that as well but neither seemed plausible to me, the distances are enormous and if the climate was tropical that really isn't compatible with hibernation conditions as we know it...increased light might answer a lot of questions...
