Canada needs to work on getting more media about politics out to the public. With having only 2 news mags Macleans and the weastern Stanard. Where is our national call in program like the Rush limbaugh show or something like that.We don't have national political shows. We need to do better with our media.

There are more sources of information now than at any time in our history. This forum is an example.

Have you thought maybe that many Canadians don't want more political information? Excepting the CBC, the other media respond to public desires. They are very attuned to what the public wants to know.

ELECTION ROUNDUP: THE SPILLS, THRILLS AND CHILLS...

GREEN PARTY POOPERS

Wouldn't you just know that while Olivia Chow lost to Tony Ianno by 1,005 votes, the Greens in Trinity-Spadina sucked up 1,672. Talk about splitters. The same thing, it turns out, happened in nine other ridings. For sustainable energy folks, the Greens are sure blowing a lot of bad wind.

UNANTICIPATED CONSEQUENCE

It was kind of Jack Layton to save Toronto-Danforth from the warped entrepreneurialism of Dennis Mills. But it seems the NDP honcho's dramatic win has only unleashed that misguided pol to run wild on the whole city. Mills is now saying he's in line to take over the hated Toronto Port Authority. Suddenly, we're all in trouble.

There are a multitude of ways to obtain election coverage if you are like me and get tired of the same old, same old, boring, reinforcing the status quo, mainstream media outlets like CTV, Global, John Ibbitson, Jeffery Simpson, Andrew Coyne, etc. that don't seem to have a creative bone in their collective bodies.

Some of the best coverage these days comes from places like the Tyee in BC, Paul Wells' and Warren Kinsella's weblogs, and alternative weekies such as the Georgia Straight, and Now. Hopefully Moe Sihota will resurface somewhere. ;)

Better to tune out CIA, tune in Al-Jazeera

If George W. Bush wants to rescue his Iraqi adventure, here's a suggestion: Spend less time with CIA sycophants like George Tenet and more time watching Al-Jazeera television.

The Bush administration's central intelligence failure was not that it failed to tap enough telephones.

Rather, it didn't bother to understand the mindset in Iraq or the larger Arab world — and it still doesn't.

Any if we think we have problems in Canada with our mainstream media, well........ ;)
