The new chief of staff, until last week, was a director of the US aircraft manufactured partnered with Lockheed Martin. His tender is for only 18-24 months and then he will return to Onex. Harper has signed a 2 Bil for upgrades for the Navy's frigates and 17 Hercules cargo plane with this company. http://www.hilltimes.com/page/view/chiefofstaff-10-04-2010

Just shows you that big buisness..the banks and the military industrial complex rule...and government are just middle management and facilitators to these guys. You would think that Harper could find someone other than an aritical American to take the post..but wait - the liberals hired an artifical America also..Iggy is his name.

Come on, Iggy also lived in Britain and no one complains about that. I've listened to Iggy and he loves this country and wants to help it make it better. Living in the US and doing BUSINESS with the US is two totally different things. Until, Iggy has the chance to govern, you or the Tory party can't say it wouldn't be a good thing.

Hello folks and welcome to the show. Now, let’s play Spot the Scandal!

• Stephen Harper’s new chief of staff works for Onex Corp. We know that, because when the press release went out announcing the appointment, it said right there that Nigel Wright was a big shot at Onex Corp.

• Part of his job at Onex was as a director of Hawker Beechcraft.

• Hawker is a partner with Lockheed Martin in an attempt to sell planes to the U.S. government.

• Lockheed builds the F-35s Canada is buying.

• Wright is taking a leave from Hawker for his new post with Harper. But it’s a temporary job and he will go back to being a rich businessman at Onex when it’s over.

---

NDP MP Pat Martin (Winnipeg Centre, Man.) said in his opinion Mr. Wright’s link to the Hawker Beechcraft partnership with Lockheed Martin “doesn’t pass the smell test.”

Hold it, we have a caller on one of our phone lines. Larry from Delisle Saskatchewan has a comment. Larry?:

“Um, thanks Kelly. I’m just wondering, uh, how can this be a scandal if the Conservatives have already made the decision on the F-35s. Is Hawker making money out of this somehow?”

No Larry, not at all! Hawker is only interested in a bid to sell stuff to the U.S. government!

“Um, so, can Harper tell the U.S. government what plane to buy, and help Onex make money?”

Not a chance Larry! You think the Congress gives a rat’s patootie what Stephen Harper has to say about Pentagon purchases?

“So how can this be a scandal if the Tories have already made the decision on Canada’s planes and can’t influence the decision on U.S. planes? Is it because Wright is getting such a great new job?”

Are you nuts Larry? Wright’s giving up a plush job at one of Canada’s top corporations, where he makes wads of money and gets to live like a sheik, in order to take on one of the lousiest, most pressure-laden jobs in Canada, where his salary is the equivalent of beer money at Onex and he has to put up with the regular braying of donkeys like Pat Martin!

“So then how can this be a scandal?”

Beats me Larry, but who cares? Thanks for joining us folks. Tomorrow: Hey, did Harper pocket that communion wafer or what?
