Topaz Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 McGuinty has given companies a break on hydro rates but it will increase rates for the rest of us. Its an election year and these companies are using this it their advantage. For low and fixed incomers this will be not a good thing. When you get your bill now, you see you used $30.00 but the bill ends up 250.00!! http://www.thestar.com/news/ontario/article/848684--hydro-hike-looms-with-break-to-industry?bn=1 Quote
ironstone Posted August 22, 2010 Report Posted August 22, 2010 Remember the old saying,"be careful what you wish for"? Well, this is exactly what the left want's isn't it?The environmentalists have been screaming for something to be done and this apparently is the solution. It always adds up to the exact same thing, pay more...pay a hell of a lot more.Use less....pay more, that's what it boils down to.This will hurt a lot of people in a big way,but hey, that's what the greenies wanted.I think a lot of people make an honest effort to reduce consumption of electricity and gas expecting to save money in the long run,but the harsh reality is that we will be gouged.Being Canadians,we won't show our displeasure either.Dalton must be laughing himself silly. Topaz Posted August 22, 2010 Author Report Posted August 22, 2010 Well, the latest now is the former ex-director of Engery Probe is saying Ontario is in for a rude awakening for hydro rates going sky high. Ottawa has been hit with double-digits this year and there's an increase of 9% or 110,00 more by 2011. Hydro One is asking for 15.7% increase for 2011 and 9.8% in 2012, which will be on the transmission part of our bills. I guess its time to switch over to natural gas, buy a gas range, I wonder if getting a natural-gas powered generator for the peeks time would be smart? Thoughts? http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/22082010/71/central-hydro-prices-rocket.html Quote
