Mr.Canada Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 It's about time the RCMP guarding Parliament get the equipment they need to do their job in todays changing world. The Mounties carried MP5s in the 1980s to guard Parliament Hill and embassies, but the firearms were phased out.The submachine-guns, like the Mounties' current secondary weapon, won't be visible and will only be pulled out if needed, Cox added.Source The RCMP used to use it in the 80's and many SWAT and special forces teams use it today. Awesomely accurate gun with limited muzzle jump. Also it take the same ammo as their Glocks do, 9MM which is nice. No need to spend money on two different sets of ammo. The cartridges are not interchangeable of coarse. Here's a picture of the Heckler & Koch MP5.
