ZenOps Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 http://www.canada.com/news/national/Rare+1936+penny+expected+fetch+auction/2389477/story.html "The coin was produced in 1937, after the death of King George V. Canadian authorities had prepared to produce coins with the effigy of King Edward VIII, who succeeded George V, but Edward VIII then stepped down from the throne to marry an American divorcee and the dies for the coins carrying Edward's image could not be used." It will be interesting to see who is going to be on our coinage when Elizabeth passes the throne. I'm solidly against putting Charles on it. Generalized British Crown - Fine, but not Charles. Quote

Long live the Queen! God have mercy on your soul. Anyway I expect that it would be whoever Canada appoints as the next monarch of Canada - it gets passed by Parliament - that would suck if she died before March.... with no parliament in sitting...... anyway it would likely be William if Canada followed the customs regarding eligibility rules. It'd likely be one of the following HRH The Duke of Edinburgh <------- tempore HRH The Prince of Wales <----------------------------- most likely HRH Prince William of Wales <----------------- second most likely. HRH Prince Henry of Wales HRH The Duke of York Quote I was here.
ZenOps Posted December 31, 2009 Author Report Posted December 31, 2009 (edited) I wouldn't mind seeing William on a bill at some point in time. Assuming he never does a "Tiger Woods", so far he seems "coinworthy". http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/12/29/business/main6034935.shtml Edited December 31, 2009 by ZenOps Quote
Smallc Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Generalized British Crown - Fine, but not Charles. I think I'd rather they put a generalized Canadian Crown than a British one. Quote
