Topaz Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 The Finance Minister has told the banks they CAN'T sell insurance through their online sites and he even going to bring in a bill to make it illegal! Since the minister is so enraged can bring down the credit card rates too! http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...1008?hub=Canada Quote
ToadBrother Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) I don't really see the point. The Feds let the banks start selling insurance years ago. Now they don't want them to advertise on the Internet? Is there a difference between ads on the Internet and pamphlets sitting in displays in front of me while I'm in line? Flaherty's newfound populism isn't terribly useful, but it is pretty annoying. It's sort of a "I have no financial room to do anything useful, so I'll start looking for things to ban!" tactic. The surest sign that a politician has lost the thread is the minute they start going down that path. Edited October 8, 2009 by Charles Anthony deleted re-copied Opening Post Quote
Moonbox Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 If you knew what the insurance sales tactics were that the banks employed you might feel differently. I'm not so sure what the method is online, but I do know that the banks are pretty sneaky in selling their rip-off insurance for credit cards etc. Quote "A man is no more entitled to an opinion for which he cannot account than he is for a pint of beer for which he cannot pay" - Anonymous

If your lurking Guyser, jump in and give us the insurance perspective. Quote
