madmax Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 (edited) Hebert loves to go on the attack when things are going wrong. Liberals might be granted their death wishIgnatieff attacks Harper's policies, style Prime Minister Stephen Harper has survived a Liberal move to topple his minority Conservatives but suffered a withering attack over his policies and style of government.Oct 02, 2009 04:30 AM Chantal Hébert Under the guise of a motion of non-confidence in Stephen Harper's minority government, Michael Ignatieff has just led his party on a parliamentary suicide mission. The only reason he and his strategists are licking their wounds in the comfort of their offices today rather than bleeding their way to an election defeat is because Jack Layton declined to activate the detonator. But for how long? Has Ignatieffs posturing and bluster moved the LPC from contention to win a minority government to handing the keys to the bus over to the CPC? Hydraboss Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Iggy should consider sending Jack a nice bottle of Glenlivet for the favor. Talk about making yourself look stupid. Thanks Mike. Jerry J. Fortin Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 I wouldn't bet on Iggy's demise just yet. There is still several innings left in this ball game. Considering that nobody wants an election anyway, there is no real rush to circle the wagons. Iggy needs to play for time. Does anybody think that Iggy did not know that the NDP would not support his motion? Quote
Keepitsimple Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Directly beneath Chantal's article is the latest Star poll.....Conservatives 37%, Liberals 27%. Quote Back to Basics
ToadBrother Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 I wouldn't bet on Iggy's demise just yet. There is still several innings left in this ball game. Considering that nobody wants an election anyway, there is no real rush to circle the wagons. Iggy needs to play for time. Does anybody think that Iggy did not know that the NDP would not support his motion? The problem is that the constant threat of trying to pull the plug isn't helping Iggy. It's a ludicrous strategy, and one that is clearly unpopular with some members of Caucus. Iggy had his chance in the late spring, but now it's too late, and continuing down this road is just going to look increasingly manic and meaningless. Quote
Molly Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Or... they'll get used it again, since it is just a return to a normal relationship between government and offical opposition. It had to be done, short term pain or not. Quote "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" — L. myata Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Except nobody really knows why. What is it that Iggy has (other than Himself) that Harper doesn't do already? Still a tight secret, in case somebody finds out (the truth)? Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant
