If Canadians think they can do better without NAFTA, abbrogate the treaty and walk away. But I don't think that will stop the whining. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

The main thing that changed the auto sector in Canada was the Auto Pact not being renewed and since auto makers don't have to make them in Canada, then why stay and the same could go for the US but again some southern states had to buy to attract the auto makers with huge incentives. Yes...the very same kind of incentives used by Ontario to get American and other foreign investment in automotive manufacturing, often at the expense of US jobs. What goes around comes around.....if you can do better without NAFTA....do it. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Now, the corporations, run the manufacturing sector and will go were they want not not worry what happens at home. I understand Obama is giving tax incentives to encourage to stay within the US or pay higher for leaving. Quote

That's fine by me....already served my time in the automotive sector and have seen it all....made it easy to move on to a new gig. Just don't pretend that Canada wasn't part of the same offshore and nearshore games. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

It's called business, and if they can get the same work done for less elsewhere then away they go. If you had to pay $65 for a haircut across the street from your house or could go for a ten minute drive to the next town and get the same haircut for $5, chances are you'd go (unless you're truly dense). I find it funny that the people that loudly espouse "one world, one people", etc, are the same ones who bitch when Mexico gets to build cars because they do it for 1/4 the price. What happened to "we're all people"? I agree with BC: If Canada doesn't want NAFTA, give the required notice and back out of it. Hope you're happy when everything you buy doubles in price.
