jdobbin Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Nope we already denied it but lying about us wouldn't be a first for a Liberal would it Dobbin? NDP do lie. We see it here in this forum. Quote
jbg Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 The Site is humourous enough not to sway CPC supporters to Ignatieff even though they are highlighting many areas in which Ignatieff is to the Right of Harper. It also seems to be trying to put off Centre and Centre Left Liberal Supporters off Ignatieff and wedging them to either the CPC or the NDP. I see this more as a clever parody than a real attempt at advocacy. It seems to be an attempt to (correctly) tie Ignatieff to the United States. The LPC has played the "America card" quite often in negative campaigning. What's sauce for the goose.... Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." Will the steps anyone is proposing to fight "climate change" reduce a single temperature, by a single degree, at a single location? The mantra of "world opinion" or the views of the "international community" betrays flabby and weak reasoning (link).

Excellent point JBG. its funny when you look back at how things really work here. The Conservatives originally were against free trade, with lyin' Brian at the helm of the Party. He was once attributed with an old saying, and I will admit it was an excellent analogy, that Canada signing a free trade agreement with the US was like a mouse sleeping with an elephant. Its okay until the elephant rolls over. He said this a leader of the opposition with Turner as Prime Minister, if memory serves. Of course once installed in the top job he changed his tune. From that day forward the play the American card game has been stepped up a notch. America is our greatest friend, yet our greatest enemy. We are a vassal state in all but name, so entwined are our economies that we cannot do less than follow the American lead. Even so America does indeed look after its friends, they take care of us whether we want to believe it or not. Should this nation ever grow a political spine we could convert ourselves from vassals to princes in a heartbeat. Quote

Mulroney said, actually "Canada is open for business" and then said that the days of anti-Americanism were over. Geography and a (mostly) common language mandates the intertwining.I know of no hostile intentions by the U.S. against Canada. The War of 1812 and the Fenian Raids are long over, as is the Pig Island War. Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." BubberMiley Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 I see this more as a clever parody than a real attempt at advocacy. I can see your approval, as your advocacy of "left-wing" issues is similar parody. But some just consider that to be more dishonest than parody. Parody needs humour. Parody needs humour. As long as you disapprove of PMPM's "army in the streets" and the "subliminal American flag" ads we're on the same page. On some right-wing boards I'm regularly savaged as a "demonrat troll" as a result of my attacks on Sarah Palin. So don't assume you know my politics. madmax Posted July 20, 2009 Author Report Posted July 20, 2009 And I thought it was New Democrats. If only they were so clever.... Ignatieffs own words... those videos, are polarizing. Quote

Topaz Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Bush sr., got his finger around Mulroney as best buddies and was able to get the Free Trade with Mulroney, got on the board of Barrick Gold , which help him become a billionaire down the road when Carlyle Group held 67% of manufacturing in North America. Mulroney soon found out how much of a buddy Bush was when he didn't need him any more. As far as Iggy and the Republican connection, I'll wait and hear it from Iggy. Quote

punked Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Vancouver sun gives its take. Republicans for Ignatieff website could be dismissed as a partisan prank, but some of it is accurateClips highlight Liberal leader's fondness for the U.S. and less-than-Liberal positions taken over the years http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Republica...3317/story.html Quote
