MapleLeafMerc Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 On Wednesday Paul Martin confirmed that Liberals care little about, and may in fact resent Canadian history. Our 'Dear Leader' Martin was addressing the troops in Gagetown on Wednesday, throwing them a few long-overdue bones, when he described how, sixty years ago, we and the rest of the Allies stormed the beaches at NORWAY. He then confirmed his and his Liberal party's contempt for Canadian history by repeating the error. It even tops McCallum's Vimy/Vichy blunder. Liberals have done a fine job of erasing and trivializing Canada's history, as they bring in wave after wave of immigrants who aren't required to know or care either. The only time Canadian history is important to Liberals is when they are bashing the Europeans that settled this country as racists, sexists, etc. Quote

I don't recall Martin bashing Europeans as sexists and racists either. There's another thread on this board that ties a verbal slip-up to some deeper problem with policy, or whatever. It's good grist for the stand-up comics but there isn't much more to it, in PM's case or GWB's. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner

I am not particularily a big Paul Matin fan, but he obviously made a mistake. Just like Stockwell Day did when he talked about the Niagara River or whatever it was. Such twisted logic. Incroixable. The world and Canada are changing. Better get used to it. Quote An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. playfullfellow Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 hmmmmmmmmmm, I wonder which wave of immigrants you are refering to? I have been an immigrant of this country for 27 years and I have been a proud citizen for 19 years. I know my Canadian history quite well, better than a lot of Canadians. PM PM may have made a slip up which is no reason to hang him in effigy. I am not a big fan of Mr. Martin but I accept the fact that people slip up when speaking in public. BTW, I also happen to be a European immigrant and do not feel any of the bias that was stipulated that I am painted as a racist, sexist etc. Quote
