jdobbin Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0409/21211.html A Minnesota court ruled Monday night that Democrat Al Franken has defeated Republican Norm Coleman and should be granted the election certificate that will allow him to take his seat in the U.S. Senate. The Coleman camp immediately vowed to appeal. Coleman is probably not going to concede but that Supreme Court is not likely rule in his favour. It is all over except the crying by the right. Quote

jdobbin Posted April 16, 2009 Author Report Posted April 16, 2009 From Bloomberg: Coleman Is the Real Comic in Contest http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...&refer=home Get this: He wanted state judges to order officials to count absentee ballots cast by unregistered voters. Do you believe it? Oh, man. My sides hurt from laughing at that one. Here’s a good one. Three judges, a Republican, a Democrat and an Independent, walk into a courtroom. Seriously, folks, the decision this week from a panel of state judges appointed to the bench by governors of three different political persuasions was perfectly sober. The three of them agreed that Coleman doesn’t have what it takes to get reelected, namely, sufficient numbers of legal votes. It seems the continued fight is to make sure that Minnesota doesn't have a sitting Senator. The longer that happens, the more pressure the GOP Governor faces. It could ruin his run for president in 2012 no matter what he does. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 It seems the continued fight is to make sure that Minnesota doesn't have a sitting Senator. Hardly...the delay tactic is pure party politics. The longer that happens, the more pressure the GOP Governor faces. It could ruin his run for president in 2012 no matter what he does. Gov Pawlenty can run for his party's nomination no matter what....not sure what you mean by ruined. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
punked Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Gov Pawlenty can run for his party's nomination no matter what....not sure what you mean by ruined. Because if he gives him the certificate makes Minnesotans happy he might win his next Gov's race although if he does that the GOP fries him. The way around Minnesotans hate him he loses the Gov's race and looks like a loser and the GOP don't vote for him again. Quote

Give a shit factor is very low....even lower nationally. Pawlenty can run in 2012 regardless. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
BubberMiley Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Pawlenty can run in 2012 regardless. Of course he can run. The point is, his chance of winning is diminished. But given the GOP''s continued slide, Pawlenty's one in a long line of Republicans unlikely to win reelection. punked Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 63% of what? I don't care either way.....like thousands of others. Life goes on ya know..... Yep all the while every other state has 2 Senators, and twice the amount of Senate offices to help the people of the State and Norm thinks it is great to Handicap Minnesota. The Governor too. Quote

The Governor too. It will hurt Pawlenty when tries for 2012 and 1.) He eventually had to certify Franken and face the wrath of his party faithful 2.) He certifies Coleman after breaking his own state laws on recounts and faces questions on whether he will obey laws in higher office 3.) there is still no seated Senator in 2012. Republicans might be laughing and scratching at the delay but after next week's Supreme Court hearing, they might be doing what Coleman did the other day, duck eggs. Quote
