Topaz Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 People who have lost their job are still waiting pass the 28 days the minister said people would have their EI benefits and it no wonder Harper isn't wining Ontarians over with a large portion of them not getting the EI funds. I have a feeling that the Conservatives are getting their riding done first before others. Why? My riding is held by a Tory and lay offs workers had their money within the 28 days and by the news alot people had filed long before my area did! http://news.sympatico.msn.cbc.ca/Local/ON/...c&date=True Quote
Vancouver King Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 It is not too early to speculate on the exact issue the opposition will use to pull the plug on Harper's govt. later this summer or early fall. EI will probably be it. Harper's failure to enact meaningful reforms - eligibility and delivery - will be a can't lose issue for Liberals in Ontario and Quebec. If you have anything to back up such an atrocious suggestion, please provide it. Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province
madmax Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 What nonsense... the EI employees hardly take the party preferences into consideration when processing claims, most of which are done on line. If you have anything to back up such an atrocious suggestion, please provide it. Scribbletts correct on this one, and the accusation a bit silly. Currently unemployment is exceedingly high in Conservative held ridings in Ontario. They promised to do alot of things in order to get elected and so far, they have successfully watched hundreds of thousands of people get tossed out of work and have yet to provide the mechanism to handle the increased volume. Alot of this has to do with incompetence, denial, and a complete disconnect from the employment difficulties in the private sector and a failure of the Conservative government to be prepared for the blowback of poor economics policies. Dianne Finlays own riding is now one of the highest increases in unemployment and nearby conservative ridings have long, long, long wait times before seeing a single check or response from the government. When 313,000 people apply for EI and only 129,000 of those qualify, you can understand the backlog. But its a great time to buy stocks. Quote
