Topaz Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 We, Canadians are going to be paying for the training of the police and other security for Afghanistan. The articles said its for 3000 men and I see nothing with the reasoning behind except why do they need 21 MIL for 3000 men if their pay is only $100.00 monthly?? Also, in the past, the men go through training and then get their pay and never come back. I also wonder if they are looking into the men's past. What better way for the Taliban to get training and be paid for it and use that money against NATO. The $100. monthly, I heard that future a news report. http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2009/03/17/a...y-kandahar.html Quote

I question the amount too, but if it means we can get our soldiers out of there and leave with some semblance of order, we really don't have a choice. It was a failed mission but we can't just walk away. It would mean our guys died for nothing. I think we owe it to their memory. That's not the way our system works." Stephen Harper.

It would mean our guys died for nothing. I think we owe it to their memory. WE may not have a choice about walking away, just like the Nam war. I think what Harper said is our guys won't be fighting in the south but I don't think our troops will be coming home until the US pulls out, at least under Harper. How long do we stay in? Until we can't afford it like the Russians? The US is already deep in debt and our debt I heard today is going to be 80+ Billion, this war is costing Canada in blood and money. We, also may have to face our guys died for nothingbut I don't think they did, they died TRYING to make things right and how many more will have to before Canada realize this isn't working?? Quote
