Alta4ever Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Yes Paul Martin was involved with Power Corp., but so were the ConservativesThe Desmarais Family of Power Corp. Paul Desmarais Sr. $ 5,000.00 / his wife Jacqueline $ 5,000.00/ Their Son Paul Jr. $ 5,000.00 / His Wife Helene $ 5,000.00 and their son Paul Guy Jr. $ 5,000.00 $ 25,000.00 from the Power Corp. Desmarais family to the Conservative party of Canada. Not bad, or were they all $ 10.00 donations skimmed from their grocery money? Poor family. Sorry you link goes no where. The Demarais have been long time liberal supporters, along witha great number of the other wealth families, like the Irvings. but you don't like anything that contractidicts your love of image you have created in your head about what the liberal party is and who they support. Jean Chrétien’s daughter is married to Andre Desmarais, Paul Desmarais’ son. Looks like the Desmarais are equal opportunity political party supporters. DrGreenthumb Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Jack Layton is no Gary Doer. Jack Layton just hasn't had the opportunity to govern like Gary Doer has. I am quite familiar with both these men, and have drank with both of them.( not that drinking is something to be proud of, but it does help to get a politicians guard down) I know Jack is Absolutely as sincere as Gary Doer in his dedication to advancing the cause of ordinary working Canadians. Jack Layton would give Canada back to the people, and let the extremely wealthy corporations, and the million dollar bonus crowd get by with a little less. BooHoo for them. Jack Layton would make a great Prime Minister, and once having tasted the benefits of an NDP government, Canada, like Manitoba would stay orange for a very long time. Quote

I admit that the family is Liberal friendly, but let's not forget that Peter McKay dated their daughter, Sophie who was just 19 at the time. so the Conservatives have definitely entered the fold.
