Topaz Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Finally the Speaker has started to clean house so to speak by cutting off anyone that starts personal attacks in the opening statements before question period. Question period has been bad enough to listen to the personal attacks now the Tories, who are doing most of the attacks against the Lib leader are angry with the Speaker. http://www.edmontonsun.com/News/Canada/200...12/8728796.html Quote
Visionseeker Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) Finally the Speaker has started to clean house so to speak by cutting off anyone that starts personal attacks in the opening statements before question period. Question period has been bad enough to listen to the personal attacks now the Tories, who are doing most of the attacks against the Lib leader are angry with the Speaker. http://www.edmontonsun.com/News/Canada/200...12/8728796.html My wife recently accompanied my niece's class on a visit to the House. On the bus ride back, my niece asked her who the "bad men were on that side of the House". Before my wife could come-up with an answer, another parent on the trip flippantly stated "those were the conservatives." When my wife told me about it, all I could think was that's one bang-up outreach program they got going. Edited March 13, 2009 by Visionseeker Quote
eyeball Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Speaker muzzles Tory attack dogs in House of Commons Speaking of which, I think parliamentarians should be fitted with those collars that deliver a corrective shock. These should be wired to switches that spectators hold and when enough of them get pissed off at the loudmouth who's beakin' off they would get zapped. I'd like to make interactive government as interesting and fun as possible. Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
bjre Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Quarrel is the only thing all these parties really good at. And also need to be funded by tax dollars. Quote "The more laws, the less freedom" -- bjre "There are so many laws that nearly everybody breaks some, even when you just stay at home do nothing, the only question left is how thugs can use laws to attack you" -- bjre "If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny." -- Thomas Jefferson
