waldo
I care I have no want to hand anything to those of vested interest or vocal interest. Besides what is best for all Canadians, their is no such thing, because we are individuals and want we all want or need is different. Stop tring to talk like Obama, its un-becoming. self-interest isolationism... is... unbecoming
madmax
Not sure on the spelling but Bev Desjalais was her name. What little respect I had for Layton went up in smoke after that. That was supposed to be a free vote in the house, Layton pulled that off and Martin handcuffed the moron Liberal cabinet and forced them to vote for it. Bev Desjalais maintained her vote which opposed the NDP position that it was a Human Rights Issue. While reprimanded, Bev Desjalais remained an NDP MP. The Link that Progressive Tory puts merely shows that Bev Desjalais, who maintained that she was speaking on behalf of her constituents, couldn't find these constituents at the nomination meeting where she lost to some other NDP candidate who won the nomination. Similar to Chuck Cadman losing the nomination in his riding. Like Cadman, Desjalais then ran as an independent. Unlike Cadman, she did not win her seat back. I don't believe the NDP secures nominations for any MPs, but lets the riding associations run their meeting and Candidates are expected to win their nomination battles. Thus a few ironies here. The CPC are known for kicking out Conservatives who vote against them. There is the oldest serving Conservative MP, kicked out because Harper broke his election promise and the MP called him on it and maintained his stand during the budget vote. This MP has since held his Seat as an Independent MP. Looking at LPC Leader IGGY.... The riding association clearly wasn't going to back the chosen one, who the LPC had eyes on for a future leadership candidate. The riding association values were tossed aside, undermined and the power of the party prevailed. Some may call it a blessing, but it isn't democratic.....
