Dannie Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Hey! Men, don’t you happen to think that new hostilities in the Middle East (Israel vs Gaza strip) is just a beginning? What other ‘troublesome’ countries are there in the ME? Look at the map - right, there is at least Syria that may also take up the hatchet. I think that once Israel invaded Gaza strip, the Jewish military won’t want to stop their war machine and will turn it against the neighboring Syria. Then Americans will certainly want to join the tea-fight to invade Pakistan surreptitiously. After that, I think, Iran will cease maintaining aloofness and - voila! - there is a full-scale war in that region! I don’t want to be unnecessarily pessimistic, but I can't see the good of it! In general, when a war breaks out, oil inevitably advances in price! That’s the fundamental truth. The Middle East is rightfully considered to be planet’s key oil-producing region! Now that OPEC tends to reduce the oil quota, one may expect that oil prices will go sky-high! For this moment, it is advisable to buy up all oil available as yet it is cheap! Very soon there will be far less oil it’s going to be terribly pricey! Quote

Well, let's see if Obama continues with Bush's policy of reducing America's dependence on foreign and unreliable oil sources, which is code for "Stop giving all our money to the Arabs and maybe they won't be able to buy bombs!" After all, the Saudis have been using all that American oil money to export Islamic fundamentalism for years. There are a LOT of reserves close to North America, both discovered and undiscovered! The move to hybrids and electric cars will also drastically reduce western demand for Middle Eastern oil. The trend away from plastics will also make a big difference. If America ever gets to the point where it doesn't need oil from that region they can afford to let the whole region kill each other off or let the Europeans try to handle the problems. It will be a dramatic change in world politics, almost certainly for the better! Obama wants full steam ahead on any energy alternatives, including ethanol, solar, wind, nuclear, etc. Our policy in Canada should be getting away from manufacturing junk cars, to exporting energy, which we have in spades. Ummm, hasn't the US including Bush also been exporting bombs to Saudi Arabia? It will be a dramatic change in world politics, almost certainly for the better! WIP Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Well, let's see if Obama continues with Bush's policy of reducing America's dependence on foreign and unreliable oil sources, which is code for "Stop giving all our money to the Arabs and maybe they won't be able to buy bombs!" Are you serious? Bush had a policy to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil! Not likely a real policy -- the only one he talked about was drilling for what little oil the U.S. has left. The only president who actually had such a policy was Jimmy Carter -- and that only happened because the price of oil quadrupled during his term. For a brief time, there was a drop in oil consumption, but as soon as oil prices crashed during Reagan's term in office, he undid most of the conservation laws and alternative fuel proposals, to go back to business as usual. After all, the Saudis have been using all that American oil money to export Islamic fundamentalism for years. And who was it again, who made sure all of the Bin Laden brothers were able to fly back to Saudiland after 9/11 when all the planes were grounded? The Bush family has very deep ties with the Saudi princes also. That's why the Bush Admin refused to connect the dots that showed Saudi Arabia as a leading state sponsor of terrorism...their only competition is Iran. Even if oil prices stay low, the world will be a safer place if the policies to reduce oil consumption are continued; oil just happens to have the misfortune of having the largest deposits in the worst countries in the world. Anything to reduce the amount of cash flowing to the MiddleEast, Iran, Sudan, Nigeria, Venezuela etc. will be a positive development for world peace.
