fellowtraveller Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Three candidates: 1. Wendy Mesley: small but vital CBC employee. She is not a visible minority, though she is from Quebec, which is like its own nation, man. 2. Anne Medina: small but vital CBC employee. Visible minority. American by birth, and we like heads of state with other citizenships and /or lenghty residencies elsewhere. 3. and the winner is : Olivia Chow, small and vital but unfortunately not a CBC employee. A brief but lucrative consulting contract could fix that. Born in Hong Kong. She could get Taliban Jack Layton a heartbeat away from his dream job as Chief Commissar. Smallc Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Too Liberal. He could make Dick Cheney an honorary Canadian citizen....I'm sure he would be good for the job. Quote
Argus Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Once again, if you want to appoint a card carrying Conservative this would be the way to go. There are few Canadians of note, Canadians who have led exemplary lives of responsibility and gravity in the national spotlight who were never involved in politics. Mackenzie is not, to my knowledge, associated with the Tories, though he did run for the Progressive Conservatives ten years or so ago under Jean Charest. He has never struck me as a particularly political guy, though. And so far as I know can command the respect of almost everyone on both sides of the aisle. If Harper wants a Tory supporter, he probably has one on MacKenzie. Quote
