moderateamericain Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 man when the greeks have politcal upheavel they dont mess around. Makes the 60's look like a petting zoo. The one thing ill never understand is if your poor and downtrodden, why make your situation worse. Burning out peoples stores in your own neighborhood? That makes a ton of sense. Quote
JB Globe Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 The Greeks, clearly, are of a similar ilk; uncivilized mouth breathers on the one hand, and cringing, weepy hand-wringers on the other. He's not racist. He just hates people who aren't Anglo-Canadian or don't bow down to Anglo superiority. How small is your world when you can't even get along with other white people because their grandmother makes Souvlaki? And for the record - if the OP is going to troll, he shouldn't whine about the quality of responses to said trolling. Dumb posts receive dumb responses. Emotional rants based on gut-reaction in-lieu of actual information don't exactly facilitate high-minded discussion . . . I hope that last point isn't a surprise to anyone. Quote
GostHacked Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 No it is spineless - to destroy something takes very little effort - just a lot of irresponsible rage - To create something and to maintain order takes guts and is not easy - Greek youth have taken the easy way out and by doing so will make themselves more poor and miserable...They can not and will not look ahead... Meh, it is only materialistic items that can be replaced. Can't say that about the teen who was shot dead. The cop sure as hell did not think ahead. Are they even paid to think? all this cafuffle about a stupid "spineless" cop killing a boy, should have been dealt with quickly and promptly. Should have, but wasnt, and now you see the result. I guess in Canada or the US we would just say "meh" and move on. THAT is spineless. There are people in the world who stand up for themselves. If we rioted like this in Canada and the US, our cops and leaders would be a little more scared and actually would want to make things better for everyone and not just themselves. The government should be afraid of the citizens, not the other way around. If the Greek authorities were smart the alledged offending law enforcer should have been instantly jailed and held...this would have quelled the rampaging youth - but then again - the only thing that would have stopped them would be to send them all five thousand bucks and a new I-pod. But they were not smart, and now all of them are seeing the immediate and overwhelming rage of the citizens. Quote

The cop sure as hell did not think ahead. Are they even paid to think? Hmm, the boy was part of a gang which ambushed police and threw rocks, bottles and bricks at them. He was apparently killed by the ricochet of a warning shot fired by one of the officers. Too bad for him. But so what? IMHO at 15 you're old enough to know that throwing rocks at the head of a guy wearing a gun is a risky business. But they were not smart, and now all of them are seeing the immediate and overwhelming rage of the citizens. More like the glee of young rabble with time on their hands given free leave to smash, burn and loot shops. And you know this because? Yet another post based entirely on opinion and wishfull thinking without a single shred of proof to back it up. Perhaps in a world consisting of nothing more than fantasy such a statement could be perceived as accurate but unfortunately the real world tends to function as an entity seperate from wishfull thinking. As I said earlier, its a basic principle. You try to f*ck with a cop, they'll f*ck you up. What is so difficult to comprehend about this concept? Quote I yam what I yam - Popeye

As per usual, you've shifted your focus onto whatever I said, dancing around the fact that yes, in fact, you made a stupid post. I'll remind you of this comment the next time I make a post that has cited sources, and an actual thesis. Quote
Argus Posted December 17, 2008 Author Report Posted December 17, 2008 As per usual, you've shifted your focus onto whatever I said, Yes, that generally happens when I respond to... what people said. Congratulations on your perceptiveness. I'll remind you of this comment the next time I make a post that has cited sources, and an actual thesis. A thesis is just another name for an opinion. Or didn't you know that? I made an opinion about an event, and cited reports of the event. Not sure what else you were looking for, sport.
