If you haven't read it I found it over on www.cbc.ca/news/pdf/081201_Accord_en.pdf I don't see a problem with the agreement and the Bloc doesn't have that much power it goes to the Libs and the NDP.

That would be the public agreement.

I wonder if we will see Harper and Day's double secret wink wink plans from 2000 and 2004.

You are completely ridiculous. How long have yolu been a member here and you are still incapable of doing the simplest things right? You are propably in charge of who attends the NDP's conference calls....

Anyway, given that you believe and have trotted out complete tripe and utter nonsense like the amero and the NAU, your pronouncement that the Bloc won't have much power needs to be taken with a boxcar of industrial salt.

OK, dancer what power does the Bloc have??? What is your idea of what the Bloc is going to do? Are they going to brainwash the NDP and Lib leader and tell them that they want them to let Quebec to separate??? Are they going to become terrorist group against Canada? I don't agree with their "quebec only" ideas but the Cons and the Libs let them in and now they have the right to act as a members of the government. The only thing the Cons have done has been to spend the surplus and getting us back in debt. As far as the amero and the NAU, I hope YOU are right because I don't want that but what better way to lead that then to do what Harper is doing to divide the country, to throw into debt! Again I will tell you have voted for the NDP, twice for the Cons, and more for the Libs but I still not attached to ANY party!!

The power to vote no. No agreement binds them against that. There are too many ways to interpret everything in that document if they so choose. And even the courts have ruled that a politician's word is worthless. The Canadian Taxpayers Federation sued Dalton McGuinty after his election, after he had so publicly signed a promise not to raise taxes, based his entire campaign on that, and then raised taxes within a few months with little more than a shrug and a smirk.

"A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley

If only I had a toaster to read stuff to me like you have....

Furthermore, upon its formation, the government will put in place a permanent consultation mechanism with the Bloc Québécois

A defacto veto on all legislation, planned and tabled.

Yep, that is THe Big Fat Lie that the Bloc Torontois must sell to the stupid and gullible of Canada. The 'progressives' are entirely willing and even eager to believe it, there are even many who have the stomach to sell it.

Look, there's a few on this thread.

Shame on you..

The government should do something.

One of the Constitutional experts raised a very valid point. He said that if the GG was asked to consider a Coalition government, she could very well say that the Liberal/NDP/Bloc plan needs some work. She could say that the agreement could only be viewed as "stable" if the Bloc was actually a full participant in the Coalition government - because the Liberals and NDP have far fewer MP's than the current government. Now....wouldn't that throw a monkey wrench into things? It's a good point because Liberals say that the Bloc holds no power. The Bloc says that they have veto power on everything - even money bills if it affects Quebec...and we all know that everything affects Quebec. REports already indicate that the Coalition has promised somewhere between $800 million and $1.2 Billion to Quebec for Education transfers - and that's probably just an appetizer. The Bloc will no doubt do what the Bloc has always done....make outrageous demands that they know will not be met...and then they tell Quebecers that Confederation can never work. It's the same old story. So sure....go ahead with the Coalition if you can get the Bloc to sign on the dotted line. Then the Bloc will be viewed as being in bed with the Federalists and the Liberals and NDP will be viewed as being in bed with the separatists. There's no way that anyone would agree to it.

The power to vote no.

They always have the power to vote no.

What happens if the Liberals and NDP vote against something, and the Bloq does too without the Coalition. The Government falls anyway.
