charter.rights Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 not necessarily, you said "were all canadians and we all help each other". im not disagreeing with that, but ask me to help dont tell me i must help. my wife tells me im a workaholic, i admit it i am because i choose to be. If i choose to make that sacrifice, why should i be forced to give my money to someone who chooses not to be? who chooses to work less and thus earn less, why should they be given my money, it destroys the incentive for me to work hard if its taken from me. just so were clear i have no wish to see the country broken up and I beleive the equalization program is fundamentally flawed. but, i suppose, therein lay the difference between a conservative and a liberal, a conservative wants equal opportunity, a liberal wants equal results. One cannot have equality without equity. BornAlbertan Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) Did you miss the part about having the second fastest growing economy in Canada? 3.8%. Do you think people here are sitting on their hands? Give your head a shake. We're all Canadians and this really needs to stop. I love your province. Its a very nice place. I don't appreciate the way you talk about mine. Well, I am sorry you feel that way. I truly do. But I feel my province has been exploited for a very long time. We have been labelled red necks by people who don't know us. We have had a Prime Minister tell us that he doesn't like working with us because we are "different". I have had taxation without representation for almost my entire adult life...and now that it is taken from me, I am supposed to accept this coalition as being good for me? Good for my province? The NEP damn near killed us. Do you know how many people I know that lost their homes in order to preserve the east? I am glad you love my province...I love it too. And your fucking right it is a nice place. But I'll be damned if I ever trust a Liberal after Trudeau or Chretien. Especially one who wanted a "Green Shift"...then he lost the election. Then he resigned. Now he is potentially be a Prime Minister WITHOUT A MANDATE teaming up with a commie and someone whose soul purpose in Parliament is to self serve the interests of one single province if not break up the country in the first place?!?! FUCK THAT! I can't respect anyone who supports this coalition. Sure...it is "legal". But it is a perversion of democracy. Edited December 4, 2008 by BornAlbertan Quote
Smallc Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 First, you do have representation in parliament, despite what you seem to believe, and in the next couple of years you'll be getting more. Second, Alberta has been anything but screwed. You seem to be doing just fine. Third, that wasn't what we were talking about. Fourth, So if one province is doing well and the rest aren't...we must all live in squaller just to be equal? And you think you aren't a socialist? holy fuck...shit or get off the pot buddy!! I'm not a socialist and the case above doesn't exist. I don't believe that people should be left without in this country when there is no reason for it. Things aren't always as simple as they may seem. Quote
