C'mon dude.....if you know anything about the history of "democracy" in North America then you will not pretend to hold on to such foolish notions.

Sorry for being so hopeful, I thought that America was still a great nation... just being led by an obtuse leader..

Maybe you should go back in time and tell the Founding Fathers that they are essentially fighting for nothing

You can't be serious.....an obtuse leader? Which one? Which foreign policy action or war didn't you like first?

Barbary Pirates?

America has never lived up to your fantasy, and never was suppose to.

Sure...why not....very consistent with actions in the past. The fantasy you cling to has never existed. Why do you pretend otherwise?

No, it is not a perfect nation and never was. It was still something to look up to however.

Anyhow, I was just trying to give some international validity to what I believe is good nation. However, according to you, I can only sympathize with those people who say that America is a "selfish, unilateral, irresponsible empire". I really hope that you stop starting wars.

No, it's not even that. The "ideals" so key to your fanatasy never existed either, and that includes John Adams' constructs. If you have nothing better to look up to than history's Americans, that is a sorry state indeed.

Why? For your own nation's sake and complicity? Are multilateral wars somehow better? Curious indeed....

Well if not for international responsibility.. Then stay away from a concept known a "burning bridges".

According to the so called "War on Terror" in Iraq and Afghanistan, not even the U.S.A. (who is the sole superpower) has the power to singlehandedly muscle everybody around.

Such bridges are burned and rebuilt throughout time. It is not a static condition.

It doesn't have to...Libya got the message on CNN.

A consistent unipolar attitude would ensure stable animosity towards the United States. If you wish to rebuild bridges, multilateral action must be taken at some point..

Not at all...it is far easier to get forgiveness than permission. One can't hold the United States to the same limitations (and interests) as Canada.

We may have more limitations when it comes to influence yes... However, you try to muscle everybody around enough and see if anybody would want to work with you.. An empire does not last forever, we know that

I know.....you live in a fallen empire. Now it's our turn if you don't mind.

Nope....was never a dominion or member of the Commonwealth. That's why it is called the Declaration of Independence.

It was still part of the British Empire..

And if you are talking about the Commonwealth of Nations, that is not the British Empire..

No it wasn't.....the colonies were part of the British Empire....not the United States. Loyalists fled to Canada to wait for the empire to eventually crumble.

Because she had to...it's her job.

Its part of the system, why would it cause her to hiccup? Or were you just trying to make the whole idea of the Queen as Canada's head of state look silly?

No, I think Canada managed to do that all by itself. But I did learn a new word.

I don't think we did that at all. I think if anything, this whole thing showed that the education system needs to better teach our government system.
